Summary: American Conservation Experience, a nonprofit Conservation Corps, in partnership with the Bureau of Land Management, Alaska State Office is seeking ONE Recreation and Outreach Development Member. The ACE Member will assist BLM Alaska's recreation and visitor services program by improving web-based recreation pages, developing improved multi-media materials for recreation outreach, and developing recreation fee business plans, recreation area management plans, and other operational needs. The project outcomes will directly benefit the public by enhancing visitor experience and recreational opportunities. Start Date: October 31, 2022 End Date: March 4, 2023 *a 18-week minimum commitment is required * Location: Anchorage, Alaska The BLM Alaska State Office is located in Anchorage, Alaska. BLM Alaska manages over 70 million surface acres and 220 million subsurface acres (Federal mineral estate) in a state with a landmass equivalent to about one-fifth of the entire contiguous United States. BLM Alaska's recreation program is diverse, home to six Wild and Scenic Rivers, Iditarod National Historic Trail, White Mountains National Recreation Area and 12 public use cabins, hundreds of miles of trails, and numerous campgrounds and wayside locations. For more information, please visit Alaska State Office | Bureau of Land Management For more information about ACE, please visit: www.usaconservation.org Living Allowance: The ACE Member is expected to contribute ~40 hours/week and will receive a living allowance of $600/week to offset the costs of food and incidental expenses, dispersed bi-weekly. Scheduling: Monday through Friday, flexible schedule adjustable for the applicant between the hours of 07:00 am and 5:00 pm." Housing: Members will be responsible for their own housing in Anchorage, Alaska. Government housing is not available. A housing allowance will be provided of up to $365/week. Position Description: The ACE member will directly review and analyze content related to the BLM Alaska web-based recreation content, assist the BLM with compiling information for up to two business plans for recreation fee site management and modifications, and participate in the review of the Recreation Management Information System (RMIS). The ACE member will review and edit web pages, review new recreation fee site business plans, provide development assistance with new recreation brochures, perform RMIS data site review, and review GIS maps. Opportunities to support local BLM recreation field work, including trail maintenance and construction, youth outreach and education, partnership development, and commercial recreation permitting experience may occur. Qualifications
Qualifications: ACE Required Members must be US citizen or Permanent Resident, as required to comply with U.S. government contracts Willing and able to represent ACE and the partner organization in a professional, positive, and enthusiastic manner. Ability to be both self-directed/work alone, and be a positive, contributing member of a group. Willing to undergo and must pass required criminal history checks. Ability to perform the essential duties of the position with or without reasonable accommodation.
