Job Summary/Basic Function
The Recreation and Intramural Coordinator is responsible for planning organizing, and overseeing recreational and intramural programs with the Student Affairs department. This role aims to enhance the overall student experience by promoting a healthy and active lifestyle through engaging and inclusive recreational activities. 
Key Responsibilities: 
  • Plan, develop, and implement a variety of recreational programs and activities catering to diverse interests and needs of students. 
  • Design and coordinate intramural sports leagues, tournaments, and events. 
  • Coordinate facility reservations and ensure proper setup for recreational events. 
  • Collaborate with campus departments and external partners to facilitate joint programs and initiatives. 
  • Actively engage with students to understand their recreational preferences and interests. 
  • Foster a sense of community through inclusive and accessible recreational opportunities. 
  • Recruit, train, and supervise student staff and volunteers involved in recreational programs.
  • Provide leadership and guidance to ensure the successful execution of programs. 
  • Create marketing strategies to promote recreational and intramural programs. 
  • Utilize various channels, including social media and campus communications, to increase awareness and participation.
  • Implement safety measures and protocols for recreational activities. 
  • Collaborate with relevant departments to ensure compliance with safety standards and regulations. 
  • Collect and analyze data to assess the effectiveness and impact of recreational programs. 
  • Use feedback to make improvements and enhance the overall quality of offerings.

Minimum Qualifications
  • Bachelor’s degree in Recreation Management, Sports Administration, or a related field.
  • Previous experience in coordinating recreational programs or intramural sports. 
  • Personal Trainer certification or Strength and Conditioning Certification. 
  • Strong organizational, interpersonal, and communication skills.
  • Knowledge of risk management and safety procedures related to recreational activities. 
  • Ability to work collaboratively with diverse groups of students, staff, and community members.
