Wayne State University is searching for an experienced Recovery Program Coordinator at its Detroit campus location.

Essential functions (job duties):
As a unit of the Health and Wellness Division, Wayne State University’s Collegiate Recovery Program (CRP) mission is to create a recovery supportive community through student engagement, advocacy, and education. The Program Coordinator, supervised by the Counseling and Psychological Services (CAPS) Director, will develop, and grow efforts related to students in recovery from substance use disorders and behavioral addictions at Wayne State University. This role is responsible for program launch, daily operations, program assessment and maintenance.
Create
and expand a campus-wide infrastructure to empower recovering students which
supports the CRP strategic plans, goals, and vision.
Provide
support and relapse prevention initiatives, implement innovative programs
using a holistic approach to support the CRP students’ personal development.
Collaborate
with Health and Wellness departments and others on campus for outreach
presentations on SUD and recovery issues (e.g., Opioid Overdose
Response/Narcan and Recovery Ally Training, Mental Health Awareness Week).
Develop and
conduct institutional workshops and educational opportunities for students.
Monitor student
compliance with all CRP policies and procedures.
Develop and
provide orientation for students entering the program.
Hire, train, and
supervise CRP student interns/workers/volunteers.
Manage
the day-to-day operations. Oversee office space, respond to all emails,
phone, and walk in correspondence from students and other campus or community
members
Review and
assess program need and recommend changes to support the CRP services. Conduct
program assessment of CRP programming efforts.
Provide monthly
and annual reports to the Director.
Work with the
Director to assure the anonymity of all students in research/evaluation
activities.
Conduct cost
benefit analysis to support the overall effectiveness and efficiency of the
program. Manage the program budget.
Review and assess program need and recommend changes to support the CRP services. Conduct program assessment of CRP programming efforts.
Perform other related duties as assigned.
Unique duties:
Qualifications:
Education
Bachelor's degree
Bachelor’s degree in a mental health-related
discipline (counseling, social work, or psychology)
Prefer Graduate degree.
Certified in Recovery Coaching
Experience
Experienced (minimum 2 years of job-related experience)
At
least two years of experience working with adolescents and young adults in
recovery.
Knowledge of recovery science and
evidence-based practices that support sustainable recovery.
Familiar with the University System and Higher
Education.
Some teaching experience.
Experience developing infrastructures to meet
strategic goals and creating initiatives to reach student goals.
Knowledge,
Skills, and Abilities
Knowledge of addition, recovery and relapse
prevention theories and practice.
Familiar with the 12-step and/or other recovery
programs.
Experience with grant writing and award
evaluation
Interpersonal skills: ability to manage pressure situations
including dealing with sensitive and confidential human relations situation,
delays, or unexpected events. Ability to
navigate challenging conversations and conflict-resolution Ability to build
cooperative, effective relationships and facilitate communication and
understanding among professionals. Experience infusing diversity, equity and
inclusion with programming and supporting diverse students (LGBTQ,
First-Generation, Veteran, and other marginalized populations).
Communication skills: written and verbal
skills, ability to communicate information to and with administration, faculty,
colleagues, and external customers.
Problem solving skills: Identifies and
resolves problems in a timely manner. Gathers and analyzes information skillfully. Synthesizes diverse
information.
Financial skills: Monitor expenditures, prepare financial
reports and statement of financial position. A basic understanding of data
analysis and program evaluation.
Teaching skills: Experience developing and
presenting programs both locally, regionally, and nationally.
Planning/Organizational skills: Prioritizes and plans work activities; adapts
to changing conditions. Develops strategies to achieve organizational goals.
