Position Summary
The part-time receptionist is responsible for serving as the first point-of-contact for the Ila Faye Miller School of Nursing and Health Professions (SNHP). Position is expected to provide excellent customer service to internal and external faculty, staff, students, and visitors. The part-time receptionist reports to the Dean, SNHP.

  • Welcomes and directs guests, SNHP visitors, and students.
  • Establishes rapport and respectful relationships with the SNHP stakeholders.
  • Facilitates communication within the SNHP and other departments as needed.
  • Coordinates essential SNHP activities, events, and processes such as major student events.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent collaboration, and organization skills.
  • Strong proficiency in Microsoft Word, Excel, Outlook, and PowerPoint.
  • Ability to multi-task and project a professional demeanor at all time in complex work setting.
  • Strong written and oral communication skills.
  • Knowledge and experience with hard copy and technology-based record systems.
  • Strong attention to detail.
  • Ability to effectively solve routine problems with limited guidance.
  • Ability to follow established policies with consistency.
  • Ability to recognize confidential information and maintain confidentiality of all student and employee information (includes academic, health, financial, personal, etc.)

Required Education
High school diploma or GED equivalent.
Required Work Experience
Two (2) years of receptionist or related experience in an office environment.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Some college.
  • Work experience involving extensive public and student contact at a college or university.
  • Experience with academic student records management.
  • Experience with online student information systems (databases).
  • High level of competence with word processing, databases such as Banner, spreadsheet software, internet, social media, and use of computers and general office equipment.
  • Bilingual (Spanish/English).
  • Basic knowledge and understanding of the health care field.

Work Hours
  • Typical hours of Monday through Thursday 9 am to 2 pm, with some flexibility based on the needs of the department.
  • Hours will not exceed 25 hours per week.
  • May be required to work evening and weekends during peak periods or for scheduled events.
Physical Demands
  • Ability to actively engage in events for extended periods of time.
  • Ability to regularly move event venues to actively engage faculty, staff, and potential/current students, as well as attend meetings on campus.
