Position Summary

The Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education at the University of Southern Indiana is accepting applications for a 12-month Reading Coordinator. The Reading Coordinator will oversee grant administration, curriculum development, materials procurement and the overall redesign of course development for Elementary Education, Early Childhood, and Special Education majors. The position may require teaching a 3 credit hour undergraduate literacy course in Elementary Education, Early Childhood Education, or Special Education programs in the Fall and Spring semesters. This position is grant funded through December 31, 2026.

Duties/Responsibilities 

  • Oversee all aspects of the Lilly ASRI Grant
  • Supervise a graduate assistant
  • Oversee curriculum development related to the Lilly Grant
  • Procure materials related to the Lilly Grant and oversee the course redesign process for Science of Reading courses.
  • Support faculty in the transition to Science of Reading.
  • Seek other grant opportunities for ongoing funding.
  • Teach literacy courses using the science of reading approach.
  • Other duties as assigned by the Assistant Dean of the Pott College of Science, Engineering, and Education.

Required Knowledge and Skills

  • Master's degree in Education or a closely related field required
  • Minimum of 2 years of full-time teaching experience in a K-6 classroom setting required

Preferred Knowledge and Skills

  • Experience with Grant Administration and Curriculum Development preferred.

Regular Work Hours/Travel Requirements

An on-campus presence will be required throughout the term of employment.
