The Health Science Center (HSC) is looking for a Radiology Technician to serve as a member of the Primary Care & Rural Health team. The Radiology Technician operates x-ray equipment with little or no supervision and assists physicians with diagnosing and treating diseases and injuries. The successful applicant will bring an expert level of radiology technician experience to the position and understand the demands of supporting executives in a fast-paced environment. This person must be professional, enjoy working in a high-volume environment and be able to apply strong organizational skills while being flexible in their daily routine. What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • Associate degree in Radiology Technology or equivalent combination of education and experience

  • Three years’ experience in general office or personnel operations, including one year experience working within an institution of higher education and medical office

Required Licenses and Certifications:

  • Certification in Non-Certified Radiologic Technician (NCT) license issued by state agency

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills

  • Familiar with standard X-ray concepts, practices, and procedures within radiological technology field

  • Possess a strong work ethic and a high level of professionalism

  • Ability to maintain patient information confidentiality

  • Demonstrate skills and competencies required for this position

  • Demonstrate and understand compliance with HIPAA regulations

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or closely related field. Graduate of an accredited Radiology Technology training program

  • Experience with physician credentialing and insurance contracts

Preferred Licenses and Certifications:

  • Basic Life Support (BLS) or Advanced Care Life Support (ACLS)

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Familiarity with electronic medical record systems

Responsibilities: 

  • Patient Care - Position patients and adjust equipment for taking diagnostic images following established procedures. Record test results and monitors patient data. Take X-rays of various portions of the body to diagnose disease or injury. Process imaging orders and authorizations. File and maintain shipping and receiving log of radiographs and other diagnostic tests requested.

  • Equipment Maintenance & Safety - Follow safety principles, radiation protection, and the general comfort and care of the patient. Maintain radiographic log, in accordance with the policy, taking responsibility for documentation of exam, patient’s name and /or retake reason. Calibrate and maintain X-Ray equipment. Maintain accurate department records to satisfy both the state and federal regulations. Maintain reports on all diagnostic radiographs. Maintain efficient, organized, and clean work area. Report problems or any potential problem to practice management.
