Job Summary:

Possesses knowledge and skills necessary to meet standards for professional practice in accordance with ARRT. Practice is characterized by a balance of dependent and interdependent decision making. Competently functions as a member of the interdisciplinary team. Recognizes when assistance is needed and seeks appropriate resources.

Individuals will be required to work independently for any assigned late shifts.

Major Responsibilities / Duties / Critical Tasks:

·         Responsible for providing technical expertise in performance of diagnostic radiography and computed tomography.

·         Prepares patients for specialty imaging procedures by accurately assessing patient’s needs and providing patient education.

·         Operates specialty imaging equipment (radiologic, CT) for image production and documentation of images, performs quality control measures for the purpose of ensuring optimal quality images, and prepares patient’s images for interpretation by radiologist, practices accurate and timely completion of scheduled and unscheduled work to maximize productivity.

·         Provides guidance and direction to other radiologic personnel when required. Performs other related duties as required.

·         Ensures department is joint commission compliant. Adheres to internal controls established for the department.

·         Remains accountable for the identification and reduction of unsafe practices that could cause harm to patients.

·         Other duties as assigned.

Accompanying Knowledge, Skills, Abilities and Competencies:

·         Ability to navigate in the EPIC and PACS.

·         Competent in required radiologic exams per ordering physician requirements.

·         Skilled in direct patient care.

·         Ability to communicate with patients and families regarding exams.

·         Ability to work alone and solve problems.



Qualifications

 

Required Education / Experience:

·         Graduate from an ARRT accredited school in Radiologic Technology with an Associate’s Degree.

 

Required Licenses / Certification:

·         Licensed through ARRT to perform Radiologic Technologist duties. Licensed through the Texas State Medical Board.

·         Must have passed CT registry or obtain within one year of hire date.

·         Must be able to obtain and maintain BLS certification.
