Quantitative Researcher, Education Systems & Policy

Join AIR as a  Quantitative Researcher with our Education Systems & Policy (ESP) team and be involved in our longstanding legacy of providing rigorous, impartial evidence-based research and resources on pressing and perennial education issues. The ESP team studies and supports organizations and infrastructure at the local, state, and national levels focusing on the people who operate PK-12 education systems to improve the organization of schooling and advance the organizations within those systems.

 

We are seeking a Researcher with an understanding and practical experience in employing quantitative research methodologies to contribute to research and evaluation projects and business development activities.

 

This position has the flexibility to work remote from anywhere in the United States or from any of AIR's U.S. office locations . This does not include U.S. territories.

The responsibilities for the position include:

  • Analyze, interpret, and report on complex quantitative data using appropriate statistical and/or psychometric methods (multiple linear regression, HLM, Structural Equation Modeling, IRT, etc.)
  • Lead the design and planning of research studies using quasi-experimental or experimental research designs
  • Coordinate and manage field based, district and/or school level data collection activities including interviews, structured observations, focus groups, and document review
  • Write reports, including briefs, charts, and graphs that describe and interpret findings of analyses for clients
  • Contribute substantively, thoughtfully, and creatively to the conceptualization and design of education studies, including research proposals
  • Communicate effectively with clients, site-based staff, and other stakeholders
  • Manage project and team organization, including taking notes during internal meetings, making and updating project timelines, and ensuring documents are uploaded to a shared drive


Education, Knowledge, and Experience:

  • Ph.D. in education, psychology, sociology, or other related field, or Master’s degree with 4-7 years of relevant work experience
  • Expertise or experience in at least one of the following:
    • Course taking and high school to post-secondary transitions
    • College and career readiness
    • Career and technical education
    • Improving outcomes for adult learners
    • Strong methods knowledge (prefer What Works Clearinghouse certification)
  • Demonstrated knowledge and experience of research principles and research design
  • Knowledge of various analytic and data management software (e.g., SPSS, EXCEL, STATA, NViVO and Access).

 Skills:

  • Excellent communication skills with the ability to collaborate efficiently in a virtual work environment
  • Ability to lead data analysis activities using descriptive and inferential statistics and able to manage the analysis of interview and focus group data
  • Ability to communicate research findings to internal and external audiences 
  • Demonstrated familiarity with the organization of data, including database structure, record layouts, and file structure
  • Available to travel locally and nationally

AIR’s Total Rewards Program , is designed to reward our staff competitively and motivate them to achieve our critical mission. This position offers an anticipated annual salary of $85,000 - $115,000. Salary offers are made based on internal equity within the institution and external equity with competitive markets. Please note this is the annual salary range for candidates that are based in the United States.
