The Quality Assurance Specialist at the K20 Center oversees interactive learning application performance. They create and execute test cases, scripts, and plans aligned with technical documents, adhering to industry standards. This role involves mentoring testers, managing a defect database, and conducting regressions. Additionally, they assist in field testing, offering implementation recommendations. Flexibility to fulfill various duties is essential. 


Essential Job Duties & Functions: 

The K20 Center is committed to providing the professional learning required for the incumbent to successfully fulfill his/her job duties.  


The Quality Assurance Specialist oversees the overall performance of all the interactive learning applications developed by the K20 Center.


  • Creates test cases, scripts, plans, and procedures that ensure the development of content, art, and interaction as specified by the technical documents (Instructional Design Document, Game Design Document, and Technical Design Document). 
  • Follows established industry standards to test the software at specified milestones and reports issues into a database.
  • Mentors and coordinates testers to run test cases, scripts, and plans as well as generate issue reports as necessary.
  • Creates and maintains a defect database, assigns issues in coordination with team leads, and performs regressions as needed.
  • Assist in the field testing of the games and make recommendations for proper implementation.
  • Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position. 

 

Job Requirements

Required Education: Bachelors, AND:

  • 12 months experience on software quality assurance. 

Equivalency/Substitution:  Will accept 48 months of related experience in lieu of the Bachelor's degree for a total of 60 months of related experience.




    Skills:


    • Ability to communicate verbally and in writing. 
    • Ability to multitask and meet deadlines in a timely manner. 
    • Able to work well with interdepartmental teams and initiatives 
    • Active Listening Skills. 
    • Knowledge of animation principles 
    • Knowledge of audio design 
    • Knowledge of character and graphic design 
    • Knowledge of game development and game asset creation 
    • Knowledge of video editing and creation 
    • Project Management Practices. 

    Required working conditions:


    • Frequent exposure to pressure caused by deadlines and busy periods. 
    • Will be required to travel to school sites and national conferences to meet with leaders, community partners, and GEAR UP stakeholders and facilitate research and evaluation activities; this may require overnight trips.  
    • Actively participate in K20 Center-sponsored professional learning experiences and, when available, seek certification for learning opportunities.
