Job Overview

Under general direction from purchasing administrator, or administrative officer, manage & direct procurement of all supplies, materials, equipment and/or services required for operation of division, department, institution or agency (e.g., solicit price quotations, monitor processing of requisitions & completion of purchase orders, maintain on-going contracts, issue reports to administrative staff, agencies and/or regulatory agencies) and serves as lead worker (i.e., provide work direction and training) over lower-level employees engaged in procurement activities.


Essential Functions
  • Manage and direct procurement of supplies, materials, equipment and/or services required for operation of division, department, institution or agency, confirm and expedite purchase orders, solicit quotations for purchase of materials, establish and develop purchasing and distribution policies and serve as lead worker (i.e., provide work direction & training) over lower-level employees engaged in procurement activities.
  • Confer with vendors, manufacturers and distributors on daily basis regarding delivery, prices and/or quantity and with district offices or representatives on procurement needs; plans, develop and draft special projects and reports; maintain inventory and budget control.
  • Prepare and/or review specifications and evaluations for use in purchases of material and invitations-to-bid for department contracts; write routine directives, instructions and/or communications concerning purchasing activities.
  • Perform related duties based on departmental need.

Minimum Requirements
  • Knowledge of (1) purchasing/procurement, (2) agency purchasing policies and procedures and state procurement regulations, (3) supervision; ability to (4) apply principles of purchasing to solve practical, everyday problems, (5) calculate fractions, decimals and percentages, (6) understand technical manuals and verbal instructions associated with purchasing procedures, (7) gather, collate and classify information concerning purchasing techniques and activity.
  • Knowledge of (8) public relations (9) budgeting as required in purchasing, (10) inventory control; ability to 4, 5, 6, 7.
  • Knowledge of 1; ability to 6, 7, (11) write routine correspondence or communications reflecting standard purchasing procedures.

Additional Qualifications Considered

2-Years of Experience in Purchasing/Procurement.


 

Shift: Varies    Starting Pay Rate: $19.30 per hour    Post Probationary Rate: $20.27 per hour
