Public Safety Officer (3:00 pm - 11:00 pm)

Location: Omaha, NEBRASKA

Under general supervision, our Evening Public Safety Officers performs duties to ensure the safety and security of University students, visitors, and employees; applies crime risk and safety hazard prevention techniques, methods, practices, and enforces University rules and regulations as an armed Public Safety Officer.
Through proactive patrolling the University Public Safety creates a secure environment by working with students, faculty, and staff to help protect people, property, solving problems, and enhancing the quality of campus life.

 

 

Qualifications:
Must be 21 years of age.
High school diploma or equivalent required; Associates Degree preferred.
1 to 2 years work related experience; OR, 1 to 2 years’ experience in a position requiring the use of interpersonal/human relations skills and high public interaction.
Must be able to obtain and maintain a City of Omaha weapons permit.
Must have a current valid driver's license AND a clean driving record for the last 5 years
Must be able to work any of the three officer shifts, or for a specific period of time to meet University/department needs.
Must be able to work under stressful situations
CPR and first-aid (training provided)


Knowledge, Skills, Abilities:
Strong verbal/written communication skills in order to interact with students, staff, and faculty and with outside agencies.


Required Licenses/Certifications:
Must have a current valid driver's license AND a clean driving record for the last 5 years
