The Public Relations and Events Manager (“PREM”) plans and executes the diverse activities related to the outreach of Georgetown University Latin America Leadership Program (LALP) programs and events, including, but not limited to, its annual flagship and custom program & its series of public dialogues and alumni initiatives. In addition, in coordination with LALP Program Manager (PM), the incumbent supports the recruitment of LALP flagship and custom programs and leads alumni program support, such as mentor programs, local interviews, and alumni case studies. Reporting to the LALP Senior Associate Director (AD), the PREM has additional duties that include but are not limited to:

Program Communications and Outreach

  • In coordination with LALP Project Manager and AD, launch the call for applications for LALP flagship programs, designing and publishing press releases, promotional posters, newsletters, and social media posts as required.

  • Work with PM to ensure applications and program sites are up to date with relevant program information, supporting the PM in recruiting and implementing LALP flagship and custom programs on campus, virtually, and in the region.

  • In close coordination with the AD, create bilingual content for the LALP website, social media channels, and quarterly newsletters.

  • Coordinate the production of LALP program promotional materials and develop presentation materials for external and internal partners to promote program outreach.

  • Design and publish LALP annual reports and other LALP publications, managing the LALP website and designing/updating bilingual content (ENG/ESP) to increase web traffic and promote awareness of LALP programs.

  • Design and create content for LALP quarterly newsletters and special initiatives and update the LALP database as needed.

Alumni, Events, and Donor Stewardship

  • Lead the development and implementation of LALP public dialogues and events in coordination with internal and external stakeholders, as required.

  • Manage alumni recognition processes with alumni networks and external vendors, including the GCL Seal and the GCL and ILG Impact Award processes, from applications to selection and award ceremony, and any new ones to be developed.

  • Coordinate with PM and AD to share program updates and prepare reports and presentations for external and internal stakeholders; Coordinate with LALP alumni to conduct programs related to alumni mentors, local alumni interviews, and alumni guest lecturers.

  • Support alumni networks in planning and implementing other LALP alumni events., serving as point of contact for LALP Advisory Committee Chair and members, leading biannual meeting invitations, and maintaining meeting logistics, agenda, presentation, and minutes.

  • Work with AD and GU Advancement to help maintain and secure new program scholarships and partnerships.

  • Seek connections with external media networks to promote LALP programs across the region and develop new and foster existing relationships with campus departments and external entities that support the LALP programs and donor and alumni outreach.

Requirements and Qualifications

  • Required: Bachelor’s degree

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills in both English and Spanish

  • At least 1 year of professional experience, preferably managing communications, events, and alumni initiatives

  • An extremely well-organized multi-tasker with good time management skills who excels at handling multiple tasks and priorities simultaneously while consistently meeting all deadlines

  • Strong attention to detail with the ability to anticipate necessary actions and work on a schedule independently and under pressure

  • Desire to serve diverse stakeholders, work on a team, and be highly collaborative, with the ability to resolve conflicts among a varied audience of program stakeholders

  • Proficiency in digital channels, graphic design platforms, MS Office, and Google products

Work Mode Designation

This position has been designated as Hybrid 3 Days. 5 days on campus may be required during in-person program and events implementation. Please note that work mode designations are regularly reviewed to meet the evolving needs of the University. Such review may necessitate changing a position’s mode of work designation. Pay Range:

The projected salary or hourly pay range for this position which represents the full range of anticipated compensation is:

$44,022.00 - $73,406.80

Compensation is determined by a number of factors including, but not limited to, the candidate’s individual qualifications, experience, education, skills, and certifications, as well as the University’s business needs and external factors.
