JOB DESCRIPTION:

  • Under limited supervision, uses a basic knowledge of public health principles to analyze, develop, implement, and promote new and creative strategies and solutions to address public health issues and challenges.
  • Addresses public health issues by providing education, technical assistance, advocacy, public awareness, and research.
  • Works with programs or studies designed to evaluate the prevalence or surveillance of public health issues and the effectiveness of targeted interventions.
  • May provide technical assistance to organizations to include presentations, web-based resources, strategies, and educational forums to address specific public health issues.
  • May work with clinical study sites on patient recruitment and data collection standards.
  • Assists with data collection and data analysis.
  • Contributes to proposals, protocols, data analysis plans, reports, manuscripts, and presentation of study findings.
  • May assist in designing, developing, and conducting targeted training initiatives.
  • May collaborate with external organizations to develop action plans and goals to achieve specific objectives.
  • Performs related responsibilities as required.

ADDITIONAL JOB DETAILS:


This is a position is in the CHAMPS Program Office and will provide project management support to the Science, Strategy, and Implementation (S3I) team and the Informatics team. The position receives technical supervision and guidance from the Senior Scientific Officer, S3I and the Senior Director, Informatics Unit. 
Job Description:
  • Serve as a liaison between the Science, Strategy, and Implement Unit (S3I) and the Informatics Unit
  • Prepare summary notes for check-in meetings and share with relevant CHAMPS team members.
  • Identify and track actions items/take aways from biweekly check-in meetings between (S3I) and the Informatics Unit.
  • Coordinate and manage IT requests from sites in Africa and South Asia
  • Work with the Senior Scientific Officer to provide operational and project management support for the laboratory and telepathology workstream.

Duties will include:

  • Tracking the status of manifests submitted to sites
  • Tracking shipment to CBR from the sites
  • Tracking the specimens accessioned at CBR and compare with manifest and addressing discrepancies as needed. 
  • Coordinating with the Informatics team on CUIDs, MITS kits IDs, and CHAMPS IDs issues and addressing problem areas as needed.
  • Coordinating cassettes printing for the MITS specimen collection kits, maintain records of kits at the sites and collaborating agency.
  • Coordinating with CDC Central Pathology Lab (CPL) to track missing scanned slides, missing site pathology reports, and missing TAC cards. 
  • Receiving DeCoDe cases list from the sites and coordinate with CDC CPL to ensure that lab reports are provided in a timely manner.
  • Tracking specimen shipments coming to CPL from sites in Africa and South Asia
  • Receiving monthly TAC, Gazelle, MITS kits report from the sites and share with relevant CHAMPS team members.
  • Tracking TAC inventory at CDC and the sites.
  • Managing lab supply shipments from CDC to sites
  • Sharing MITS kits IDs for backup boxes
  • Managing lab-quality related issues for TAC and other lab testing activities

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

  • A master's degree in Public Health, a master of science degree in Public Health or Health Education, OR a master's degree in Development Practice OR a master's degree in another field and one year of public health experience.

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Master’s Degree with relevant field of study in global health or infectious disease
  • Knowledge and understanding of public health principles and practice
  • Strong organizational and operational skills
  • Strong data, analytic, and problem-solving skills
  • Highly skilled in Office 365 suite and other analysis tools such as PowerPoint, Excel, Tableau, etc)
  • Experience managing and executing multiple projects and activities
  • Excellent oral and written communication skills
  • Experience working in teams and collaborating with team members
