Primary Purpose of Organizational Unit
The Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs has primary responsibility for shaping and implementing the University’s global strategy while supporting global activity across campus. Units that report to the Vice Provost for Global Affairs include: Global Partnerships, Global Education, Exchange and Sponsored Programs, Global Research Institute, International Student and Scholar Services, UNC World View, Duke-UNC Rotary Peace Center and the UBC/Shared Services Business Office.
Position Summary
The Communications Specialist in the Office of the Vice Provost for Global Affairs (OVPGA)supports the Communications Manager in enhancing the University of North Carolina at Chapel Hill’s global profile and mission. As the Communications Manager develops UNC Global Affairs’ communication strategy, in coordination with OVPGA leadership, the Communications Specialist works with them to implement it.
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field. 
Must have fluency or working knowledge of the following platforms: Microsoft Office Suite (including Teams and SharePoint) *Calendars *WordPress (or similar program) *SmugMugYouTube*Instagram*LinkedIn*Adobe Acrobat and Adobe Creative Suite*Canva
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
Master’s degree in: Communications, Public Relations, Journalism or related field.
Special Physical/Mental Requirements
Evenings and weekends to attend events.Must be able to come to work in person. No remote.
