UNC School of Law seeks a Communications Specialist to join the Office of Communications. This role reports to the Assistant Dean for Communication and works with the communications team to strategically plan and create content for the law school’s print and digital projects. Responsibilities include researching and writing news stories, making updates to the website, print and digital project management and event planning assistance. The role also works closely with the Assistant Dean for Communications to create diverse and inclusive strategic communications plans for the overall law school as well as individual departments, centers and programs.
The role must be committed to incorporating principles of diversity, equity and inclusion in all communication materials
Minimum Education and Experience Requirements
Bachelor’s degree in a discipline related to the area of assignment; or equivalent combination of training and experience. All degrees must be received from appropriately accredited institutions.
Required Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Bachelor’s degree in communications, journalism, public relations or marketing
* Experience creating digital and written content
* Experience working with WordPress
* Knowledge of AP Style and best practices for writing for the web
* Excellent written, digital and oral communication skills
* Excellent organizational skills to include managing time and deadlines, prioritizing tasks, and leading projects
* Ability to shift priorities to meet demands and deadlines
* Excellent customer service skills which include active listening, positive attitude, interpersonal skills, and timely delivery of content and services.
Preferred Qualifications, Competencies, and Experience
* Higher education experience
* 2-5 years experience working on communication projects for a diverse audience
