Public Address (PA) (Temporary)
Primary Purpose:
The Public Address (PA) will announce needed information of the sporting events held at the University of the Pacific in an enthusiastic and engaging manner during the event.
Essential Functions:

  • Announcing starting lineups, game commentary, and analysis.
  • Providing a dynamic and engaging voice for fans during in-game activities.
  • Knowledge of sport terminology.
  • Strong communication and speaking skills.
  • Experience with calling sport activity play-by-play.
  • Perform other related duties as assigned.

Minimum Qualifications:
  • High School Diploma or G.E.D.
  • Six (6) months of experience doing public address work.

Preferred Qualifications:
  • Experience as a public address announcer for college athletic events.
  • Ability to work in coordination with other game operations staff.
  • Knowledge of sports where you are public address announcer.
  • Experience and sensitivity in working with people of diverse backgrounds and cultures.
  • Demonstrated experience in advancing social justice, equity, and inclusion in a university setting.
  • Ability to engage and integrate culturally responsive practices and knowledge in their work.

May require lengthy periods of sitting or standing. Working in confined spaces. Occasional climbing stairs, walking across campus, stooping and reaching. Constant communication using both spoken and written means. Possible exposure to loud noises.
Work Environment/Work Week/Travel:
Work performed during odd hours, nights, and weekends.
Hiring Range: $20.00 per hour. We consider factors such as, but not limited to, scope and responsibilities of the position, candidates qualifications, internal equity, as well as market and organizational considerations when extending an offer.
