Position Summary Information


Objective
To develop and provide online instruction for safety and health program.
Essential Duties
  • Demonstrates a sensitivity toward and respect for the myriad of diversities represented in the student population, colleagues and service area.
  • Aids in the development of curricula, including individual course syllabi as assigned.
  • Prepares and delivers instruction to students.
  • Actively pursues and participates in professional development activities to enhance skills in various modes of instruction and knowledge of learning.
  • Works with colleagues to select appropriate textbooks for departmental adoptions, and abides by departmental decisions for textbooks.
  • Prepares assignments.
  • Designs and maintains an active classroom environment for effective student learning and success.
  • Maintains student attendance records.
  • Evaluates student performance and learning.
  • Provides regular and timely evaluation feedback to students.
  • Assigns grades consistent with course requirements.
  • Assists in Blinn College’s commitment to assessing student learning outcomes and program learning outcomes and to achieving institutional performance measures.
  • Participates in Blinn College’s institutional effectiveness program including the preparation and evaluations of Student Outcomes.
  • Accepts and participates in the necessary training to offer courses via varied delivery methods such as distance learning.
  • Accepts and participates in the service mission of the college.
  • Completes all required training and professional development sessions sponsored through Blinn College.
  • Other duties as assigned.
  • Maintains up-to-date knowledge in the teaching field.
  • Demonstrates willingness and ability to teach OSHT safety and health online courses and delivery methods, as needed and as reasonably requested by the college.
  • Prepares adequately for online courses in addition to making sure curriculum is maintained to current industry standards.
  • Delivers material in a clear and understandable manner.
  • Addresses student concerns, i.e., comments, questions, and input, both in class and via posted office hours, timely electronic communication, and other suitable means.
  • Minimum Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills to include public relation skills.
  • Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with Blinn College personnel and students.
  • Experience taking courses online.
  • Detail oriented.
  • Preferred Experience and Training
  • Bachelor’s degree or higher, from an accredited college or university, in the teaching discipline or related field and three (3) years non-teaching work experience in a safety related position.
  • Master’s degree or higher, from an accredited college or university, AND a minimum of eighteen (18) completed graduate course hours in the teaching discipline or a related field and three (3) years non-teaching work experience in a safety related position.

    Required Degree, License or Certifications
  • Associate degree in safety related field.
  • Three (3) years non-teaching work experience in a safety related position.
