UTHealth Houston Neurosciences is hiring for a Psychometrist II to join their team of professionals. The Psychometrist will be responsible for working with linguistically diverse and neurodiverse patients, scoring and norming, and more. The ideal candidate will have their Certified Specialist in Psychometry (CSP) from the Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP). Experience working with adult patients is preferred. Bilingual in English and Spanish is also preferred.

Position Summary:

Under general supervision, administers cognitive, psychological, and academic test to patients. Also scores patient test results and provides scoring reports for evaluation and further treatment of the patient; assists in research data acquisition, input, and analysis.

 

Position Key Accountabilities:

  • Utilizes approved methods and techniques in administering standardized test and determines test scores in accordance with general accepted norms and methods for such test.
  • Clearly communicates test scores and associated testing information, and furnishes test results and other clinical observations to Psychologists in a timely and professional manner.
  • Assists with research data acquisition, input and analysis. Under general direction, develops and conducts research protocols for the division. 
  • Assists with research data input and analysis.
  • Assist in the training of new Psychometrists and students in the division.
  • Assists in literature searches in relation to any clinically relevant topics as well as recent articles on psychological tests and norms currently used in the division.
  • Assist Psychologist in any testing conducted on patients during surgical procedures.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.

  • Certification/Skills:

    Certified Specialist in Psychometry (CSP) from the Board of Certified Psychometrists (BCP) - preferred.
    Basic computer skills using Windows, Word and Excel.
    Ability to interact with a diverse adolescent and adult population in a clinical setting.

    Minimum Education:

    Bachelor’s degree in Psychology, Master’s in Psychology preferred.

    Minimum Experience:

    Two years of professional work experience testing, scoring and associated administrative experience earned under the supervision of licensed psychologist or neuropsychologist. May substitute required experience with equivalent years of education beyond the minimum education requirement.

     

    Physical Requirements:

    Exerts up to 20 pounds of force occasionally and/or up to 10 pounds frequently and/or a negligible amount constantly to move objects.

    Residency Requirement:

    Employees must permanently reside and work in the State of Texas.
