Position Responsibilities
Position Summary | The University of Idaho Counseling and Mental Health Center (CMHC) is searching for a psychologist to join our clinical staff, expand and strengthen the range of mental health services provided and contribute to advancing the agency’s goal of promoting diversity and inclusion into all facets of our work. We are searching for well-qualified candidates who show support and commitment to our institutional and departmental mission, values and goals. The position is a full-time, 12-month clinical faculty (non-tenure track) appointment at the rank of assistant professor. The minimum salary for this position is $85,000. The successful candidate will join a multidisciplinary team and spend the majority of their time providing direct clinical services to students which includes initial appointments, crisis intervention, individual counseling and case management activities within the CMHC’s established clinical model. The CMHC offers a broad range of clinical services which include group counseling, psychiatric services, psychological assessment, alcohol and other drug programming, biofeedback and trauma-informed treatments. In addition, the psychologist will design and implement educational outreach programs, provide consultation about psychological issues to the campus community, serve in at least one liaison role to a campus partner, provide clinical supervision and training for doctoral interns in the APA-accredited internship program and provide occasional afterhours work (e.g., critical campus incidents or outreach requests) on an as-needed-basis. The psychologist will also be expected to engage in scholarship activities which may include professional presentations, program development and/or research and publications. Licensure as a psychologist in Idaho within two years of the start date is a requirement of this position. The ideal candidate will have a strong foundation as a generalist as well as an emerging or clearly-defined area of professional specialization. The specific focus of the specialization is open, but the strongest consideration will be given to candidates who have a demonstrated history of professional specialization and/or clinical work in one or more of the following areas: • Experience providing comprehensive psychological assessment with adults evaluating for Attention-Deficit Hyperactivity Disorder, Learning Disorders, and/or Autism Spectrum Disorder • Strong clinical skills, interest, and experience providing psychotherapy to a diverse student population, including but not limited to the BIPOC, international students, students living with disabilities, first-generation college students, LGBTQIA2S+ students, clients from multiple races, ethnicities, cultures and socio-economic backgrounds |

The CMHC offers individual and group counseling, crisis intervention, psychiatric services, psychological testing, alcohol and other drug programming, outreach, campus liaisons and consultative services. The CMHC utilizes a developmental model, focusing on personal development, coping skills, treatment, and wellness within a brief therapy framework. The CMHC is deeply committed to building a welcoming, affirming, and supportive environment for all students that reduces stigma and increases access to mental health services.
