Position Summary
The University of the Incarnate Word invites applications for the position of Psychologist under the UIW Health. The Psychologist will provide psychotherapy, crisis intervention, and referral services to clients from the UIW system as needed. This position is responsible for providing psychological evaluations to students enrolled at UIW (and possibly for UIW K-12 affiliates) for the purpose of determining diagnoses and disorders that may affect learning or professional performance. The Psychologist will make recommendations for educational accommodations and will consult with Disability Services, Faculty, and other mental health professionals in the UIW system.
As a licensed clinician, this team member is expected to participate in professional development opportunities and continuing education to maintain licensure. This team member will also work alongside behavioral health interns working toward graduation or licensure. The successful candidate will possess competency and experience in working with diverse populations including children and adults, military populations, survivors of violence/ sexual assault, and international clients. This team member should be familiar with a wide variety of community resources, be comfortable with crisis intervention, practice cultural competence, and be enthusiastic about working as a part of a multi-disciplinary team. The Psychologist will provide services at all of the University of the Incarnate Word main campuses as needed. This position reports to the Director of Social Services.
This position is considered a “Responsible Employee” under Title IX federal regulations and “Mandatory Reporter” under Texas state law and the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy. As a Mandatory Reporter, this position requires you, as the employee, to promptly report any incident that you witness or receive information about Title IX violations. These reporting responsibilities are set out in the UIW Sexual Misconduct Policy.

Description of Job Duties
  • Provides psychological assessment, learning evaluations, counseling, and referral to clients in need of additional behavioral health or community services.
  • Provides crisis intervention and emergency walk-in services.
  • Provides clinical consultation to university community.
  • Serves on university committees or special projects as needed.
  • Follows all professional ethical guidelines, including the maintenance of confidentiality and compliance with HIPAA/ FERPA/insurance and other university federal and state requirements.
  • Maintains flexibility as issues with coverage arise and as additional collaborative meetings are requested.
  • Must be able to work independently and collaboratively with team members.
  • Must be able to manage conflict and to communicate well during problem-solving.
  • Works alongside interns in the provision of counseling services, assessment, and consultation.
  • Represents the Counseling Center at campus community events, School of Osteopathic Medicine events, and at conferences.
  • Attends administrative, staff development, required training, and supervision meetings.
  • Contributes time to development of special behavioral health initiatives and grant funded projects connected to the Counseling Center and Osteopathic School of Medicine.
  • Completes necessary and required documentation within 48 hours, consistent with professional and office expectations.
  •  Collaborates with counselors and provide supervision of interns in the counseling center.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Qualifications


Knowledge Skills and Abilities
  • Must be knowledgeable in a variety of assessment, disorders that impact learning, evidenced based and brief counseling modalities.
  • Must be proficient in providing psychological assessment to culturally diverse populations with a variety of life challenges/ diagnoses.
  • Must be eligible for insurance credentialing.
  • Proficiency with Microsoft Office products and the use of Electronic Medical Records.
Required Education
Ph.D. or Psy.D. in Clinical or Counseling Psychology.
Required Work Experience
Minimum 3 years of post-licensure experience.
Preferred Qualifications
Bilingual (Spanish) Preferred.
Required Certifications, Licenses or Registrations
Current license in the State of Texas as Psychologist.
Must hold valid driver’s license and be able to drive to different UIW campuses as needed
Work Hours
Between 8am-6pm. Must be flexible to meet needs of UIW students. May require occasional weekend work for special events.
Physical Demands
Must be able to operate a motor vehicle.
