POSITION SUMMARY:
The Department of Family Medicine at the University of South Florida, Morsani College of Medicine is seeking a PhD Psychologist with experience in mental health counseling, precepting and research in the education and/or general psychology fields.  Preferred qualifications include working with PhD students, previous experience in a Family Medicine residency and publications or grants in the field.
RESPONSIBILITIES:

  • TEACHING:  Development and implementation of the didactic currriculum for Family Medicine residents related to mental health and wellness.  Precepting residents within the Family Medicine clinic.
  • ADMINISTRATIVE:  Membership in the Clinical Competency Committee (CCC) for the FM residency and leadership within the residency recruitment process.
  • CLINICAL: Working within the FM residency seeing patients within their own clinic as well as precepting residents to coach and train for the management of mental health issues within the family medicine practice.
  • RESEARCH:  Participate in existing and/or new research initatives within the department.
  • OTHER DUTIES:  As assignef by Program Director and/or Department Chair.
  • ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS OF POSITION:  Responsible to a Chair or other appropriate higher-level administrator of a State university. Responsible for teaching, research, service, and related administrative activities. Responsible for academic advising and related activities. May represent the university, college/school, or department. 


POSITION QUALIFICATIONS:
MINIMUM:

  • Doctorate level education in Psychology. Licensed mental health counselor with a Florida license in good standing.
  • Must be able to meet University criteria for appointment at the rank of Assistant Professor.
  • Must be able to obtain and maintain credentialing with USF Health.


PREFERRED:

  • Clinical experience treating patients in a Family medicine setting, experience working with both PhD students and Family Medicine residents.
