Job Summary:
The Psychological Counselor reports to the Director and/or Assistant Director of Counseling.  The incumbent provides counseling and therapy assistance in the form of short-term individual and group counseling services and crisis intervention directly to the college community; makes referrals to outside agencies and clinicians when appropriate; develops and implements outreach programs to enhance wellness; provides consultative assistance and in-service training to various persons and departments within the campus community; and evaluates the need for and effectiveness of counseling programs.  
Required Qualifications:
1.      Master’s degree in counseling, psychology, neuropsychology or social work required; licensed or certified in general mental health counseling: LPC/LAC; LCSW/LSW; NCC, etc.  Doctoral degree preferred.  
 
2.      Two years of appropriate experience in general mental health counseling, outreach, and specialty service required; counseling experience at an academic institution preferred.  
 
3.      Population appropriate secondary experience, and license or certification, strongly preferred, e.g., group work, mental health educator, victim services, CADC, learning disabilities, Autism Spectrum Disorders, social skills training, LDT-C, BCBA/BCaBA.  
 
4.      Employment is contingent upon a satisfactory background check.  Candidates for hire will be required to sign a waiver authorizing the background check and produce a Social Security Card.
