Job Description

Position Information: Provides a clinic, department, or research project with psychological assistance by performing psychological assessment, research, data analysis, report preparation, and counseling.
 
Essential Duties:

  • Psychological Assessment.  Assesses individuals through interviews, and testing.  

  • Research.  Conducts scientific research and collects data.  

  • Data Analysis.  Analyzes and interprets data found through research or psychological assessment.  

  • Report Preparation.  Prepares reports stating findings, recommendations, etc.  

  • Counseling.  May provide counseling to patients, subjects, family members, etc.  

  • Scheduling.  Schedules appointments for psychological testing, interviews, counseling sessions, etc.  

  • Communication.  Communicates with various personnel.  

  • Supervision.  May supervise personnel including practicum students, etc. 

  • As Needed.  Performs various duties as needed to successfully fulfill the function of the position.

    Job Requirements

    --- 
    Education:  Ph.D. or Master’s Degree in Psychology or Social Work (MSW)
     
    Experience:  There is no experience requirement for applicants holding a Ph.D.; Master’s Degree applicant’s must have 48 months related professional-level experience
     
    Certifications/ Licenses:  Licensed Clinical Psychologist, or Licensed Professional Counselor, or Licensed Clinical Social Worker, or eligible within 90 days of employment
     
    Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

    • Knowledge of and ability to apply relevant current special education methodologies and techniques.

    • Knowledge of crisis intervention techniques.

    • Ability to observe, assess, and record symptoms, reactions, and progress.

    • Ability to effectively communicate medical information, test results, diagnoses and/or proposed treatment in a manner easily understood by the client.Interviewing and psychological/developmental evaluation skills.

    • Ability to evaluate the progress of therapeutic programs and to make individual modifications.

    • Ability to use independent judgment and to manage and impart confidential information.

    • Ability to assess mental status in clients and to develop individual treatment goals and plans.

    • Knowledge of psychological test administration, scoring, and interpretation.

    • Ability to maintain emotional stability to cope with human suffering, emergencies, and other stresses.

    • Skill in preparing and maintaining patient records.
