Summary

Position responsibilities of an Educational Faculty Member will encompass curriculum exploration and program development efforts related to a new potential advanced degree in clinical psychology. Key duties will include market analysis/understanding, program development (including accreditation), academic leadership, curriculum development, and scholarly activities, all of which are integral to the advancement of education in applied clinical psychology. This position will play a pivotal role in contributing to the educational mission of the Department and the School of Health Professions.  This individual will have an academic appointment within the Menninger Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences and work closely in partnership with the School of Health Professions.


Job Duties
  • Collaborates with leadership in the Department of Psychiatry and Behavioral Sciences, the School of Health Professions, and BCM educational teams on exploration of program development to design innovative and evidence-based curricula.
  • Demonstrates an understanding of the market for psychology graduate programs (e.g., Ph.D., Psy.D., and M.S.) in terms of accreditation, structure, curriculum, and necessary resources.
  • Contributes to the development and execution of strategic planning for an accredited educational program.
  • Participates in the educational mission through educational committees, task forces, and other initiatives aimed at enhancing the quality of education.
  • Engages in scholarly work related to medical education and psychology, including research, educational program evaluation, and dissemination of findings through publications and presentations.
  • Contributes to the advancement of knowledge in the field of psychology, psychiatry and behavioral sciences through research and collaboration with colleagues.
  • Demonstrates clinical excellence and serves as a role model for learners in clinical settings.
  • Stays current with advancements in psychology and medical education by attending conferences, workshops, and continuing education activities.
  • Seeks opportunities for professional growth and skill development.
  • Develops and uses engaging and effective teaching methods, including lectures, seminars, workshops, and other educational sessions for medical students, health professions students, interns, residents, fellows, and other learners.
  • Supervises and mentors learners.
  • Provides guidance and support for assessments, evaluations, and feedback mechanisms at the learner and program levels.

 


Minimum Qualifications
  • Ph.D. or Psy.D. from APA (or equivalent) accredited program.
  • Experience in psychology education, preferably with experience overseeing graduate student learning. 
  • Licensed or license eligible in State of Texas.
