The program aims to provide participants with the clinical experience and exposure necessary to enhance their eligibility and qualifications for eventual application to an ACGME-accredited clinical training program in the US. The program curriculum is designed to provide a comprehensive clinical experience in hematology, oncology, and internal medicine.
Curriculum
The program structure will consist of inpatient rotations in Hematology clinical services for 4 months, including the acute leukemia service (Heme 1), Lymphoma service (Heme 2), bone marrow transplant/Cellular therapies and myeloma service (BMT), and hematology consults; Medical Oncology clinical service for 4 months, including inpatient medical oncology floors and oncology consults; Internal Medicine for 3 months; and one month of vacation. These responsibilities will include clinical history taking, physical examinations, participation in inpatient rounds, note-writing, observation of medical procedures, and participation in educational lectures and conferences. Trainees will work under the supervision of the attending faculty during that rotation. The trainees will not engage in patient care beyond the scope of a medical student, will not practice independently, hold licensure, bill for services, or prescribe treatments. Trainees are expected to adhere to program policies related to attendance, professionalism, ethical conduct, and compliance with institutional policies and regulations. It is expected that trainees will in this program for a total of up to 40 hours per week only. Trainees will not be taking calls or attending night shifts.
