The Department of Surgery at University of Utah Health highly values Advanced Practice Clinicians (APCs) in our clinical operations in both inpatient and ambulatory practice. The Division of General Surgery, Surgical ICU is looking for an Advanced Practice Clinician (NP or PA) who is a patient focused, self-motivated provider who has the ability to work effectively in a team environment. Our APCs are valued members of our teams and work collaboratively with their physicians as well as independently. We expect excellent communication skills and the ability to work well in a team environment. In addition to working in a world class institution with excellent benefits, there is ongoing education with weekly Grand Rounds, practice standards guided by evidence based research, and opportunities for project and research involvement. Job Summary: The APC in the Division of General Surgery, Surgical Intensive Care Unit provides care to critically ill patients most of whom are post op or trauma patients. The provider will care for critically ill patients in a 12 bed ICU alongside residents, medical students, APC students, fellows, and faculty attending physicians. Responsibilities | Bedside care of critically ill patients in a 12 bed Surgical ICU. Procedures: Based on need, training, and proficiency. Participate in team meetings, education conferences, creation of SICU APC and Resident call schedules, as well as opportunities for research and QI project involvement. Collaborate with multiple team members to ensure the best outcomes possible. Often: Infectious disease, oils (there is air or skin exposure to oils or other cutting fluids), hazards (includes a variety of physical conditions, such as proximity to moving mechanical parts, moving vehicles, electrical current, working on scaffolding and high places, or exposure to chemicals). Physical Requirements and Level of Frequency that may be required Nearly Continuously: Hearing, listening, talking. Often: Repetitive hand motion (such as typing), walking, standing, sitting.
