Position Overview
The Division of Advancement is seeking to hire an Prospect Research Analyst to join our team. Under general direction from the Director of Prospect Strategy and Development, the Research Analyst is responsible for identifying potential philanthropic prospects, performing extensive research, and providing information, analysis, and data management tools to support effective fundraising, donor centric data-driven decision making, and strategic planning for engagement and fundraising priorities for the University of North Texas.

Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor’s Degree and two years of professional experience in marketing, fundraising, event planning, public relations, corporate account sales, or communications; or any equivalent combination of education, training, and experience.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
• Working knowledge of the development field.
• Knowledge of accepted business practices and procedures.
• Ability to establish and maintain cordial, productive, and professional working relationships with internal and external contacts.
• Ability to manage time, personnel, financial, and physical resources effectively.
• Exceptional communications skills.
• Ability to master University policies and procedures and apply these in specific situations.
• Some knowledge of philanthropy and fundraising principles or ability to quickly assimilate.

Work Schedule
Monday – Friday, 8am – 5pm; Typical 40-hour work week with possible flex-time schedule and hybrid-remote work opportunities.

Job Duties

Prospect Identification and Research:
Under the direction of the Director, Prospect Strategy and Development, the Research Analyst, will perform proactive and reactive specialized, high quality prospect research and analysis using a variety of sources and strategies, to provide accurate, timely, and strategic information to fundraising staff on prospective donors to UNT with emphasis on major gift prospects. Assists with targeted prospecting lists on request by curating collections of the best referrals identified for a specific objective. Assume primary responsibility for meeting prospect research needs of major gift and principal gift officers in assigned college, school or unit/s (CSU/s).

Prospect and Data Integrity:
Assists with maintaining the accuracy and completeness of advancement data by auditing, updating, and cleaning prospect management data. Maintain the professional and ethical standards set forth for the field by the Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (APRA). Remains current on fundraising best practices, especially related to prospect research and development.

Advancement Administration:
Build strong relationships with advancement clients by attending portfolio review sessions, team meetings, and providing prompt, thorough, and accurate service through the completion of research requests. Work independently and manage diverse, competing priorities while meeting deadlines and producing high-quality deliverables.
