Summary of Job Duties:

This position will coordinate donor relationship management, prospect identification and prospect research focused primarily on major gifts ($25,000+). The prospect research analyst maintains the Institutional Advancement (IA) relationship management protocols which guides strategic donor engagement across all UAMS units. Donor prospect research includes in depth review and assessment of donor financial capacity along with affinity and affiliations with UAMS. The Prospect Research Analyst will utilize various best practice procedures along with tools and applications while serving as the content expert for prospect research software providing training and troubleshooting to all IA team members.

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree plus two (2) years of demonstrated experience in prospect research, development, library research, administrative support, or information related field preferably in a higher education environment or

  • Associate degree plus four (4) years of experience in prospect research, development, library research, administrative support, or information related field preferably in a higher education environment or

  • High School diploma/GED plus six (6) years of experience in prospect research, development, library research, administrative support, or information related field preferably in a higher education environment required.

Knowledge, Skills & Abilities:

  • Knowledge of the range of resources available to prospect researchers.

  • Ability to apply those resources in an organized and purposeful manner.

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience in a higher education or non-profit fundraising setting.

  • Excellent skills with Microsoft Office products including Excel, Word, and Outlook required.

  • Strong organizational skills.

  • Ability to analyze user needs and translate into reports.

  • Excellent customer support, interpersonal and communication skills, and dedication to a team approach.

  • Ability to communicate clearly with staff and management.

  • Demonstrates high level of integrity and innovative thinking and actively contributes to the success of the institution.

  • Adheres to all UAMS policies and procedures.

  • Supports the overall operations of Institutional Advancement.

  • Willingness to participate as an active member of the Advancement Services team.

  • Working knowledge of fundraising relationship database systems and experience in donor database software such as Ellucian Advance or similar systems.

  • Experience in Major gift prospect research software, such as WealthEngine, and experience with general research software such as LexisNexis or AlumniFinder.


Additional Information:

Responsibilities:

  • Serve as the point person to conduct in depth research on individuals, corporations, and foundations using prospect research tools, internet resources, and donor database including financial capacity and institutional affinity.

  • Provides analysis to aid in appropriate solicitation strategies including gift solicitation amount ($25,000+).

  • Partner with approximately fifteen (15) fundraisers to plan strategy, analyze, and help refine portfolios.

  • Analyze data within donor database to identify new major gift prospects for all areas of UAMS.

  • Work with Information Services and Analytics team to develop reports and report criteria that aid in identification of new major gift prospects.

  • Prepare major donor prospect profiles once prospects have been qualified by Institutional Advancement staff.

  • Work with Advancement Services to develop reports to measure effectiveness of this program.

  • Conduct other research requested by Institutional Advancement staff.

  • Work with the Donor Relations team to include information needed for event attendees, potential board members, and integrity of donor database.

  • Knowledge of research tools and strong willingness to work with and assist others with research needs is required.

  • Keep current with prospect development best practices and industry developments through webinars, Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (Apra) membership, and other professional training.

  • Serve as expert user of prospect research software to train and assist other users.

  • Ability and willingness to assist and work with others required.

  • Keep current with prospect development best practices and industry developments through webinars, Association of Professional Researchers for Advancement (Apra) membership, and other professional training.

  • Record prospect assignments approved by leadership in donor database.

  • May perform other duties as assigned.
