SRS is seeking a Proposal Administrator II who will be responsible for preparing and ensuring that proposal packages are complete before being forwarded to sponsors; providing support to researchers in the preparation and submission of proposals to include determining sponsor requirements and preparation of budges/forms according to appropriate guidelines; preparing supplementary proposal documents with minimal supervision and ensuring proposals are complete before being forwarded to the sponsor; and coordinating with researchers, principal investigators, department/unit heads, deans, directors, staff and customers to resolve proposal issues. The preferred candidate will have a bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field and experience in pre-award research administration. Sponsored Research Services (SRS) provides research administration services to The Texas A&M University System. We further the research goals of the university by delivering efficient and superior service to members of the Texas A&M System research community. What you need to know

Required Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.

  • Two years in a university or business environment performing duties related to accounting and/or developing budgets, and/or project management, and/or proposal administration including proposal preparation and/or identifying potential sponsor/funding opportunities.

Required Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Excellent verbal and written communication, organizational and interpersonal skills.

  • Experience using word processing, spreadsheet and database software.

  • Attention to detail skills and ability to work productively as part of a team.

  • Ability to multi-task and work cooperatively with others.

Preferred Education and Experience:

  • Bachelor’s degree in business administration or related field.

  • Experience in pre-award sponsored research administration.

  • Research administration experience within the A&M System or other university setting.

Preferred Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of Federal grant and contract regulations and practical application of current research administration issues.

  • Experience using Word and Excel.

  • Personal or professional experience in working with people of diverse backgrounds.

Responsibilities:

  • Proposal Preparation and Coordination - Provides support to researchers in the preparation of proposals which includes determining the sponsor’s requirements and preparation of budgets and forms according to the guidelines established by Texas A&M University, Office of Management and Budget Circulars, Federal Cost Accounting Standards and sponsor guidelines. Prepares supplementary proposal documents with minimal supervision and ensures proposals are complete before being forwarded to the sponsor. Prepares proposal revisions and responds to requests related to proposal submissions. Coordinates with researchers, department/unit heads, deans, directors and staff to resolve proposal issues and provides information as requested.

  • Proposal Review and Compliance - Reviews proposals for compliance issues. Reviews program announcements and with minimal direction determines pertinent proposal requirements. Communicates guidelines and proposal requirements to Principal Investigators. Acquires basic knowledge of human subjects, animal subjects, Recombinant DNA, Export Controls, etc.

  • Proposal Submission - Provides support to researchers in the submission of proposals. Enters proposal information into required submission systems (i.e., Grants.gov, etc.) and financial systems. Performs other duties as assigned.
