Project Specialist

The Department of Population and Public Health Sciences at the University of Southern California Keck School of Medicine is seeking to fulfill a part-time Project Specialist position (Principal Investigator, Dr. Claradina Soto). The Project Specialist will be part of a research team that seeks to understand tobacco and cannabis related health disparities and improve health outcomes in American Indian and Alaska Native (AIAN) communities in California. The Project Specialist will be working on a study titled “Understanding tobacco and cannabis co-use in young adult priority populations in California.” This project was funded by a Tobacco Related Disease Research Program grant. Participants in this project will be asked to complete a survey, an interview, and provide a urine sample (voluntary step). The results of the intervention will be evaluated through mixed methods (i.e., pre-post comparisons, thematic coding). The Project Specialist will help ensure that study procedures are followed and remain up to date; assist with qualitative data collection; conduct quality assurance procedures; coordinate data collection activities with community-based organizations and university partners; enter data; recruit and schedule participants; analyze quantitative and qualitative data; write reports; and conduct various administrative duties. The position requires the ability to work with diverse populations. This position requires travel to AIAN communities throughout California (approximately 30% of time). A master's degree in public health or related field is preferred.


The hourly pay range for this position is $29.40 - $31.54. Minimum Education: Bachelor's degree Additional Education Requirements Combined experience/education as substitute for minimum education Minimum Experience: 2 years Minimum Skills: Directly related education and experience to be able to advise on project procedures and analysis techniques. Preferred Education: Master's degree Preferred Experience: 3 years
