Job Overview

The Georgetown University Center for Child and Human Development (GUCCHD) is dedicated to fostering a stronger society by promoting the wellbeing of ALL children, adults and families and creating more inclusive communities. We execute this mission through research, training & technical assistance, scholarship and thought leadership. Through a portfolio of grants awarded through the DC Department of Health, the GUCCHD develops and implements research and evaluation projects aimed at improving maternal and child health outcomes for DC residents.

The Project Researcher is responsible for helping implement community-based, mixed methods evaluation protocols, ongoing data collection, entry and management. As new projects emerge or the need arises, the Project Researcher will be involved in various other related research and evaluation activities.

Responsibilities include but are not limited to literature search and synthesis, data organization, collection and statistical analyses, assistance with the creation of scientific presentations, participation in research and evaluation team activities, and performance of general office/administrative assignments.

Work Interactions

The Project Researcher is supervised by the Administrator of the GUCCHD and works under the programmatic direction of the Director of Research and Evaluation at the GUCCHD. Under general supervision, they interface with project faculty, administrative staff, team members from the DC Department of Health and other local, community-based agencies. 

They also participate as a member of the Center-wide Research and Evaluation Core (REC), attending bi-monthly meetings and participating in REC activities and projects. 

Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s degree
  • At least 3 to 5 years relevant experience
  • Experience with quantitative and qualitative data analysis and software - e.g. , SPSS and NVivo
  • Strong written, oral communication and research skills, ability to maintain a research and evaluation library and catalogue of resources
  • Good multitasking and organizational skills
  • A knowledge of library and web related research
  • Proficiency with MS Office (Word, PowerPoint, Excel, Access)
  • Familiarity with database management and data visualization
  • Fluency in Spanish
  • Willingness and availability to travel within the Washington, DC area to complete program activities
