Job Summary

The Project Manager is directly responsible for coordinating and executing work on the various administrative, planning, design, and engagement projects for which they are assigned, within the Strategic Design Fellowship Program at The Wealth + Work Futures Lab at the Lindy Institute for Urban Innovation. These projects are focused on leveraging research, design, and community engagement strategies to influence policies and practices affecting economic well-being and social equity for emerging adults in the region.

The Project Manager will coordinate all their efforts with the Founder of The Wealth + Work Futures Lab/Distinguished Resident Fellow and support all work of the Strategic Design Fellowship Program.

Essential Functions

  • Manage and coordinate a suite of projects under the Strategic Design Fellowship Program, including high-profile initiatives such as Change Pending and The Grief Movement Project.
  • Facilitate collaborations with social impact partners to provide real-world applications for the fellowship’s training in art, media, public health, and storytelling.
  • Engage and build networks among local leaders, focusing on strengthening community ties and enhancing public understanding of social determinants of health, particularly among young adults in Philadelphia.
  • Lead the development and dissemination of the "Young Adult Well-Being Policy Platform," aiming to influence local governmental and private sector policies.
  • Oversee the integration of trauma-informed practices into project designs, ensuring that youth have the tools and platforms to navigate and transform their experiences of trauma and grief into systemic change.
  • Mentor and support a diverse group of fellows and members of the Youth Advisory Council, fostering their roles as community leaders and advocates.
  • Apply innovative research methodologies that incorporate user design processes, Indigenous knowledge systems, and empirical studies to craft frameworks that drive strategic change.
  • Conduct and manage applied research activities, maintaining rigorous standards of data integrity and relevance.

Required Qualifications

  • Minimum of a Master’s degree in Curriculum Development, Education, Human Services, Educational Psychology, or a closely related field.
  • Minimum of 3 years of experience relevant fields with demonstrated experience in project management, civic engagement, and applied research.

Preferred Qualifications

  • 10+ years of experience in Youth Development, Youth Mentorship and Advocacy, Human Services, Community Engagement, or Community Design.
  • Experience in managing interdisciplinary projects and teams, particularly in an environment focused on urban innovation and youth engagement.
  • Exceptional leadership, strategic thinking, and problem-solving skills.
  • Strong capabilities in public speaking, community engagement, and the facilitation of collaborative sessions.
  • Proficient in GIS and Adobe Creative Suite for project visualization and communication.
  • Insightful understanding of socio-economic data analysis, with a focus on urban environments and public policy.

Additional Information

This is a Part-time Per Diem position classified as non-exempt. The offered pay is based on the successful candidate’s qualifications and experience, department budget, and an internal equity review.
