This is a limited term position for 1 year.


The mission of the Food and Nutrition Innovation Institute is to build a community of collaborators and create a robust, science-driven ecosystem of food and nutrition innovation and entrepreneurship that is committed to solving some of the most challenging issues of our time. The synergies created by this multidisciplinary community will highlight the brightest minds and translate the newest advances in the field, ultimately accelerating exciting innovations to market and connecting scientific academic experts and talented graduate students with the food system and nutrition science stakeholders from farm to fork, health and wellness, insurance, startups, venture capital, and non-profit and advocacy organizations.

The Operations Manager will be responsible for managing the daily activities of the Innovation Institute, including:

  • Management of critical operations including planning, scheduling, budgeting, reporting, and process improvement, partnering with initiative leaders to scale high value solutions and services from idea through deployment.
  • Oversight of program responsibilities such as outcomes reporting, project communications, event development and management, issue tracking, facilitating project meetings, managing deliverables, and ensuring resolution of escalated issues.
  • Development and coordination of presentations and materials for meetings, internal and external events, and communications.
  • Monitoring, and tracking of metrics (KPI’s) supporting budget and spend, and preparation of materials related to annual reporting.
  • Identification, tracking and reporting on areas for increased efficiency, and identify, recommend, and implement solutions to address them.
  • Help manage team performance against team strategy and goals by managing timelines, presenting, and communicating progress to leadership.
  • Establish and maintain collaborative relationships to drive results both inside and outside Tufts University.
  • Prioritize and execute multiple major projects/programs with broad scope and strategic impact with minimal oversight.
  • Work collaboratively across a cross-functional structure and collaborate with a high-performance team.
 

Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Bachelor’s Degree required.
  • Experience with a variety of project management tools.
  • Passion for innovation and entrepreneurship.     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Relentless focus on execution. Strong record of planning, organizing, tracking, reporting, and presenting on high value solutions from seed to scale.
  • Excellent communication with an eye for detail, an ear for important items, and a focus on the concise and accurate delivery of key messages across emails, spreadsheets, presentations, meetings, and reports.
  • Strategic mindset and the ability to see and act within the bigger picture while connecting dots and finding opportunities for collaboration.
  • Skillful at building consensus and making thoughtful, data-driven recommendations for project / program prioritization, solution design, issue management, risk identification and mitigation.
  • Excellent business judgment and a practical, common-sense approach to getting things done.
  • Masterful cross-functional communication to ensure all technical and non-technical stakeholders can collaborate effectively and stay engaged throughout the lifecycle of a project.
  • A “radar” for identifying when you or a struggling project needs additional guidance from leadership and being able to escalate it appropriately.
  • Ability to insightfully examine the status quo, analyze opportunities for improvement, creatively generate solutions, and demonstrate the grit to realize the change.
  • Ability to effectively collaborate and win the respect of your peers and stakeholders.
  • Experience with WordPress, Canva, infographic design, social media engagement, podcast production, and events planning.
