PROJECT MANAGER, Plasma Science and Fusion Center (PSFC), to serve as the primary person focused on project management.  Will facilitate project planning, execution, and reporting across a wide portfolio of scientific and engineering research projects that are running simultaneously. Key activities include developing budgets and schedules with project leads; attending technical meetings; working with stakeholders to identify issues, track risks, and ensure project scope is on track; communicating regularly and proactively with project stakeholders; and acting as liaison between the technical team and stakeholders, communicating project status, issues, and recommendations in a timely manner.  The position involves working closely with and serving as a key integrator between scientists (faculty, researchers, students), technical staff (engineers and technicians), and support staff (fiscal officers and procurement). 

PSFC is world-leader in the research of plasma physics and the development of fusion energy.  It has been central to several recent fusion breakthroughs, including conceiving the SPARC tokamak , demonstrating the first large-scale 20 tesla superconducting fusion magnet , and analyzing the record-breaking plasma shot at the National Ignition Facility .  


Job Requirements
REQUIRED: bachelor’s degree in engineering/engineering management; at least three years’ experience managing small-to-mid scale scientific or engineering projects in a research and development environment; experience estimating budgets and schedules for project planning and tracking and reporting status for project execution; and knowledge of project management (e.g., Microsoft Project) and productivity (e.g., Microsoft Office) software and their use in building and managing resource-loaded schedules and documentation. Must be able to simultaneously manage a number of concurrent projects while maintaining organization, clarity, and responsiveness; and cooperate closely and communicate clearly with both technical experts and administrative staff.  Job #21465-8
