Job Description

Responsible for the successful management and delivery of multiple, simultaneous projects of medium to large scope.  Oversees all phases of the project life cycle (Initiating, Planning, Executing, Controlling/Monitoring and Closing).  To this end, they assist in the review and preparation of project charters, project scope, cost estimates, risk assessment, resource requirement and allocation and status report documents for assigned ITS projects.  Ensures adherence to Boston College’s Project Management and Project Portfolio Management (PPM) standards, leads project meetings and recommends and initiates action to direct the analysis and resolution of problems. 

Project Management/Implementation:  Responsible for all project phases to include definition of project scope and objectives, development of detailed project plans and schedules, project estimates, and resource plans.  Define resource needs and collaborate with others to secure these resources (e.g. budgeting, staff, etc.).  Partner with PMO staff and University clients to ensure that project plans and associated milestones meet customer requirements.

Training/Communications:  Leads project team meetings to assess current status, resolve issues and provide guidance on project management processes.  Generate meeting notes capturing the essence of the discussion including any actions/tasks issues, risks and decisions along with owners and completion dates. Provide work assignments to project teams to ensure that deliverables and deadlines are met.  Escalate issues to management when appropriate.

Documentation:  Responsible for project tracking and analytics. Capture and report on project hours, cost and changes from project initiation through closure.  Prepare project and progress reports for ITS Management, clients or others. Review status reports, modify schedules and issues/action lists or plans as required. Adhere to project management processes and project documentation standards.

Title and salary commensurate with relevant experience based on the following titles and hiring ranges:

  • Senior Level (5+ years of exp.). Salary Range: 100k to 126k
  • Mid Level (3-5 years of exp.) Salary Range: 85k to 108k
  • Associate level (1-3 years exp.)  Salary Range: 71k to 89k

This position offers a hybrid work schedule at the discretion of Management.

Requirements

  • Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Services, Business or related discipline.
  • Proven Project Management experience required.
  • Working knowledge of various traditional and/or agile project management tools and techniques.
  • Excellent written and verbal communications skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to influence and persuade others.
  • Demonstrated ability to manage multiple projects at various levels of complexity.
  • Ability to quickly grasp technical concepts and integrate them into project plans.
  • Ability to manage project teams and teach others about the project management process.
  • Knowledge and experience with Agile project management methods desired.
  • Provide excellent customer service.
  • Strong organizational skills.
  • Collaborative team-focused orientation. 
  • Available for extra hours as needed.
  • Demonstrated ability to work with, communicate and present to all levels of staff and management.

Preferred:

  • Experience with TeamDynamix project portfolio management.
  • Background and experience utilizing established project management methodologies based on PMI’s PMBOK.
  • Experience working with SmartSheets.
  • Project Management Professional (PMP) certification.
  • Experience in a Higher Education environment.
