Project Manager - Feinstein International Center  - (21002063)

This is a grant funded position and is not eligible for severance pay.


The Feinstein International Center (FIC) at Tufts University receives grants and contracts from a range of donors for international projects and programs. The Center will implement a new project from USAID focused on how the humanitarian sector can use weather and climate forecasts to anticipate disasters and act early, before impacts happen. This two-year project is a collaboration between Tufts University, 4 African universities, and 2 Asian universities to carry out real-time evaluations around the world of humanitarian anticipatory action systems. The project is managed by the Center’s headquarters in Boston, MA.

Essential Duties:

  • Develops goals and strategies for program/project in collaboration with Director or Principal Investigator.
  • Implements plans and evaluates progress; refines plans or changes policies and procedures as necessary, using Agile Management techniques.
  • Manages relationships with 6 university partners and 4 humanitarian agencies.
  • Designs and executes creative and interactive bi-annual program retreats.
  • Design and facilitate “learning and utilization clinics” with university researchers and humanitarian partners, such as the World Food Programme.
  • Manages and analyzes budgets and prepares reports and projections.
  • Assists Director or Principal Investigator in writing grants and proposals for new funding opportunities or continued support.
  • Work closely with the Office of Research Administration and the programme administrator at the Feinstein Center to follow donor regulations and prepare reports.
  • Writes and designs program/project literature and external communications.
  • Develops and oversees marketing, advertising and external relations.
  • Oversees content and maintenance of website and designs and evaluates social media strategy.
  • Designs, and may deliver, seminars, lectures and other special events.
  • Conducts research and drafts reports and results
  •  Presents information and results to management, constituents and sponsors
  • Develops and oversees data management and filing systems and oversees entry and maintenance of data and data collection forms. Manage the Monitoring and Evaluation of grant progress and deliverables.
  • Manages hiring and training of staff, supporting the on-boarding of new staff who join the consortium from partner universities.
 

Qualifications

 

Basic Requirements:

  • Master’s degree in related discipline and 5-8 years of program or project management experience
  • Excellent communication skills.  
  • Experience with facilitation of group meetings.
  • Excellent skills with online collaboration environments, including zoom.
  • Demonstrated organization skills and ability to handle multiple projects and concurrent deadlines with frequent interruptions.
  • Experience with grant accounting, working with grant budgets and financial management software.  
  • High degree of proficiency in Microsoft Office suite.  
  • Ability to relate effectively to people across national and cultural boundaries.
  • Working knowledge of federal regulations related to the conduct of research and of contract management in an institution of higher education.     

Preferred Qualifications:

  • 3 years of related experience in higher education environment.
  • Experience working on research/development projects, especially Monitoring and Evaluation.  
  • Familiarity with Agile project management methodologies (SCRUM).
  • Experience with creative and interactive facilitation methods to encourage collaboration between people of different disciplines and backgrounds, especially in an online environment.
  • A desire to work as a member of a team of academics and practitioners which embraces multidisciplinary approaches and methods.
