Job Description

The ASU Library is seeking a Project Manager to join the Communications and Web Services team. The successful candidate will have a commitment to outstanding customer service and utilize exceptional communication skills to work closely and collaboratively with colleagues and library stakeholders on web, design, outreach and event projects. They will plan, direct and organize project requirements, and help streamline workflows and processes through identifying necessary resources and coordinating efforts of all contributors. The Project Manager works closely with colleagues throughout the library and will have opportunities to engage with professionals throughout the university system. This position reports directly to ASU Library's Associate University Librarian for Communication and Web Services.

$55,510- $70,000 per year; DOE


Essential Duties

  • Contribute in development and implementation of project management methods, tools and techniques and performance.
  • Work closely and collaboratively with key stakeholders to define project scope, strategy, budget and outcomes.
  • Identify critical resource expertise and target appropriate internal and/or external sources to ensure optimal outcome(s).
  • Plan, develop, implement and guide project teams through complete task definitions. 
  • Assign tasks and identify issues for resolution to ensure optimal team effectiveness.
  • Establish, monitor and manage project expectations to ensure progress and desirable outcomes.
  • Prepare and maintain all project status reports and schedules, tracking milestones/deliverables, critical paths and dependencies.
  • Effectively communicate relevant project information to project teams and stakeholders.
  • Build, develop and maintain relationships vital to project success.

Minimum Qualifications

Bachelor's degree and 5 years related experience; 1 of which are in project management, or any equivalent combination of experience and /or education from which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.


Desired Qualifications

  • Experience managing web, technology, creative and/or marketing projects. 
  • Experience using project management applications. 
  • Experience in establishing and maintaining strong, effective and collaborative working relationships with colleagues and collaborators.
  • Experience with work that requires attention to detail, efficiency and organization skills.
  • Demonstrated knowledge of web development methodologies, design systems and web content management systems.
  • Demonstrated commitment to providing outstanding customer service to internal and/or external stakeholders.
  • Evidence of effective communication skills.
  • Experience in problem-solving and decision-making.  

Working Environment

  • This position is based in a library environment on the Tempe campus.
  • Activities are primarily performed in a regular, climate controlled office setting.
  • Daily use of computers and associated technologies. 
  • Work collaboratively across various departments within the library and University as well as with diverse populations and groups.
