  • JOB DUTIES

Description

Under general direction of the Executive Director, analyze, coordinate, and support operational solutions for DLAM and other stakeholders associated with UCLA Animal Research such as: ARC, EHS, and Research Laboratories, striving to continuously improve the overall efficiency of DLAM. Manage operational projects that span multiple teams. Execute on communication plans and presentations for internal and external audiences. Create assessments on key findings, and maintain project status updates. Optimize workflow and cross-department engagements. Train team members on new systems and processes. Assist DLAM leaders in implementing new policies and procedures. Show a bias towards action and build and maintain relationships with stakeholders. In this role, you will have full responsibility for assigned areas within the guidelines of campus and division policies and procedures and proper techniques. Independent decision making and original problem solving is required. You will exercise initiative and judgment in completion of tasks and consults with the Executive Director and other DLAM leadership team as needed. Salary range: $29.41/hr – $58.14/hr

Qualifications

Required: * Ability to communicate with excellent oral and writtenskills. * Ability to communicate faculty and staff who have varyingdegrees of veterinary medical training and to whom English is not a first language. * Ability to develop and clearly communicate new ideas. * Ability to complete tasks in an orderly and timelyfashion, and to adjust to changes in the workload, prioritizing tasks. * Knowledge in training programs used in different settingsof laboratory animal medicine. * Ability to work independently on a self-directed basisprioritizing and organizing fluctuating work load. * Ability to analyze information, problems, and proceduresto define problems and formulate viable alternatives. * Working knowledge of University organization, policies,procedures, and practices. * Skill in speaking clearly and distinctly both on a one toone and group presentation level to obtain and convey information to individuals at variousorganizational levels. * Ability to establish and maintain cooperative workingrelationships with DLAM staff as well as other department members. * Execute project management best practices by developingproject scope of work, objectives, budget, and evaluation measuring and ensuringoutcome deliverables are achieved and within budget. * Skill in performing, and teaching training programs. * Skill demonstrated experience influencing other withoutdirect supervision, including being able to lead and manage established teams. * Knowledge of medical terminology and basic anatomy. * Ability to supervise, coach, and communicate effectivelywith class participants. * Knowledge of and ability to accurately follow all SOPsassociated with a GLP study, including required by study protocol and GLP documentationprocedures. * Strong computer, interpersonal, and time managementskills * Knowledge of regulations governing Animal Research: AWA,The Guide 8th Ed , and OLAW * Skill to help elevate the Program’s internal visibilityto stakeholders * Demonstrated project management skills with proven abilityto deliver agreed upon objectives within expected time frame. Preferred: * Minimum of bachelors degree, Master’s degree strongly preferred, with a minimum of 3-5 years of animal research experience * Working Knowledge of lean practices and changemanagement * Project Management Professional (PMP) certification
