The India Research Center is seeking a Project Coordinator to support the Project Manager (both located in Mumbai, India) with day-to-day study operations and logistics for a project aimed at building capacity among decision makers, journalists, and public health practitioners in India for using evidence in shaping public knowledge, attitudes, practice and policy on health. This project is called Project SANCHAR - Science and News: Communicating Health and Research, and is aimed at enabling journalists and public health practitioners, among other actors, to draw on the latest science and data in what they do in shaping public knowledge, attitudes and policy on health. To facilitate this, SANCHAR will aid media professionals and government decision makers in leveraging scientific evidence in their day-to-day practice with the ultimate goal of promoting social change and shaping policy agenda.
The Project Coordinator will provide overall support to the Project Manager all aspects of the project. This includes assisting with all SANCHAR study activities including logistics for SANCHAR trainings, social media communication, development of policy briefs, translation of study documents and other study related activities as needed.
Additional duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to, the following:
  • Assist in drafting SANCHAR newsletters, policy briefs based on NFHS reports, and other communication materials
  • Assist with researching and preparing NFHS data for the SANCHAR web portal
  • Translating materials into Hindi and conducting accuracy checks on communication documents
  • Assist in mapping various stakeholders for organizing health summits
  • Actively operating social media handles of the project
  • Providing administrative support to the IRC Project Manager including coordinating staff and participant travel, filing invoices, taking meeting minutes, and participating on weekly team calls
  • Assisting with operations and logistics for trainings
  • Formatting communication material and presentations
  • Other duties as assigned
​PLEASE NOTE: This position has a term end date of 12/31/2020 with possibility for extension (for another year) depending on funding.
PLEASE NOTE: This position will travel for meetings and workshops in Uttar Pradesh, Bihar and New Delhi.

  • Bachelor's Degree required
  • 3+ years of related experience required; a combination of education and experience may be considered

  • Experience with Microsoft Office - including Word, PowerPoint, and Excel preferred
  • Experience drafting communications materials, such as briefs, preferred
