Project Coordinator

PRIMARY OBJECTIVE

Reporting to the Dist Dir-Partners in Education (PIE) Program, The Project Coordinator-Non-Union (CHA Programs) performs highly responsible programmatic and administrative functions in support of CCC’s educational partnership with the Chicago Housing Authority (CHA) through the PIE Program. The Project Coordinator is responsible for providing information to prospective students among CHA residents and Housing Choice Voucher (HCV) Program participants; assisting prospective applicants with the application process; and maintaining continuous communication with participants to facilitate a smooth enrollment and registration process. Performs related duties as required.

 

ESSENTIAL DUTIES

·       Assists in various programmatic and administrative functions, including the planning of PIE Program activities; tracking of student progress; reporting compliance; distribution of student vouchers; and submission of invoices to CHA for reimbursement of costs.

·       Organizes and delivers information sessions to introduce prospective students to the Partners in Education (PIE) program, explaining eligibility requirements and available financial assistance, and encouraging eligible prospects to apply for the program. Develops an annual schedule of information session dates and shares with CHA for dissemination.  

·       Informs prospective students on available degree and certificate programs including career pathways, student support services including educational guidance and counseling, and CCC’s expectations of students’ commitment towards success and completion.

·       Provides information about specialized services to prospective students who require additional support to improve their reading, math, and communication skills. Refers students in need of a High School Equivalency certificate to the Adult Education Department for assistance.

·       Follows ups with prospective participant to facilitate their enrollment, including navigating the financial aid, testing and registration processes; ensures compliance with all program requirements.

·       Assists prospective participants in completing appeals to CHA for special requests and the denial of financial assistance by the CHA. Coordinates submission of appeals to CHA.

·       Coordinates the planning and implementation of CHA’s Summer Learn & Earn Program, providing recent graduates of Chicago Public Schools with an opportunity in CCC’s Summer Start program.

·       Assists the District Director in managing and administering special projects as needed in compliance with terms and conditions of program activities.

·       Assists in maintaining files of program participants for use in program evaluation.

·       Provides technical assistance or support for tasks outside the scope of established procedures.

·       Serves as liaison to CHA and other outside agencies to provide services to program participants and to ensure compliance with program policies and guidelines.

·       Performs related duties as required.

QUALIFICATIONS

·       Bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university

·       Two years of work experience in administering a program(s) for a non-profit, social services, government, or educational organization

·       Experience working in higher education in the areas of financial aid, student finance or accounts, scholarship administration, or advising desirable

·       A combination of education and experience may be taken into consideration based on an applicant’s credentials, provided the minimum degree requirement is met

·       Excellent interpersonal and communication skills

·       Excellent organizational and time-management skills


·       Ability to manage multiple tasks and meet deadlines in a timely manner

·       Ability to work well within a culturally diverse environment

·       Proficient in the use of Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
