Position is located in New York, NY, within the ILR School Extension Office located at 570 Lexington Ave New York, NY 10022.

   

This opening is a one-year term New Conversations Project Associate – Project Associate C06 in the NYC Extension/Outreach Division.

Our Team:

The New Conversations Project is dedicated to independent research and action on a new generation of strategies that the evidence says can produce better outcomes for large numbers of workersThis term position will execute research and support management of research projects for the New Conversations Project.

What we are seeking:

We are seeking a person who appreciates and will take ownership in the following, and not limited to:

  • contributing to research (desk and field) and summaries for research projects

  • communications drafting and management

  • organizing/supporting project events (in-person and online)

  • managing contracting process and contracts with external researchers

  • assisting directors with project planning and administration.

As a team member you will need to have established the following:

  • work successfully as part of a team

  • prioritize work on simultaneous projects

  • exercise judgment and logic to anticipate and solve problems independently

  • excellent communication and organizational skills

  • work successfully under pressure with minimal supervision at a variety of tasks within a fast-paced, team-oriented, diverse office setting.

This is a one-year term, full-time, bargaining unit position that falls under the NYC ILR Extension exempt CWA contract. Initial appointment through September 30, 2023, position may be reappointed with approval based on available funding and work.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree and two to four years of relevant experience, or equivalent combination of education and work experience
  • Two years of experience with project management/administration, preferably in an academic setting
  • Prior experience conducting research, and drafting written materials in the relevant domains is essential
  • Must have domain knowledge, specifically knowledge regarding labor practices in global supply chains
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills including experience in academic research and writing methods, and media/communications and marketing
  • Demonstrated ability to plan, develop, manage, implement and monitor projects (including events) from conception to completion
  • Must be able to work independently while supporting the efforts of an overall team
  • Excellent organizational, analytical, and problem-solving skills
  • Expertise with standard computer software including Microsoft Office Suite (Word, PowerPoint, Excel) and Adobe Acrobat
  • Requires flexibility in work hours, including occasional evening or weekend with advance notice for event support.

You will be a top candidate with our preferred qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree in Industrial Relations, Economics, Development studies, Public Policy, Sociology or related field
  • Experience conducting field research in labor governance and global production
  • Some knowledge of production-country languages (esp. Spanish as well as Chinese, Vietnamese, Bahasa Indo.)
  • Expertise with statistical analysis software such as SPSS, R
  • Experience with project planning/management software such as MS Teams
  • Demonstrate high level of proficiency with the technical applications involved in the execution of the job including: Adobe Acrobat Pro, Qualtrics, Box and Zoom.
  • Prior experience working with HTML or other web development tools
