The Project Assistant position supports the goals and workplans of the projects within the Center for Excellence in Public Health. These projects include, but are not limited to: Maine Area Health Education (AHEC) Network Program, Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program, and Strengthening our Healthcare Workforce: Empowering New Mainer Youth to Explore and Pursue Health Careers Program.

Responsibilities
The Project Assistant (PA):
  • Help collect and enter evaluation data into tracking database.
  • Assist with AHEC newsletter production and distribution.
  • Assist with the development of evaluation dissemination materials and reports.
  • Update AHEC website with input from staff.
  • Assist with various financial tasks, such as processing invoices, preparing university financial forms, and processing travel forms.
  • Provide administrative support to project/department as needed.
  • Participate in and assist with Area Health Education Center (AHEC) youth activities including but not limited to:
    • Coordinate job shadow or internship opportunities for high school students.
    • Assist with the coordination of learning activities at participating high schools, which will include in person support.
  • Assist with project logistics for the Rural Domestic Violence, Dating Violence, Sexual Assault, and Stalking Program to include, but not limited to, recording Advisory Committee Meeting minutes, preparing for and providing in person support during learning sessions related to sexual assault prevention and response.
  • Organize, schedule, attend meetings, and take meeting minutes when appropriate.
  • Organize computer files, program materials, and inventory.
  • Understand and comply with the University of New England Safety Manual.
  • Other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
Associate’s degree required. A degree preferred in public health, business, administration or other appropriate discipline, plus two years of relevant experience, or a combination of education and experience from which comparable knowledge and skills are acquired.
  • Experience in public health project administration and training preferred.
  • Strong computer skills and proficient in Microsoft Excel and Microsoft Word required.
  • Strong administrative and organizational skills. Experience in organizing and maintaining moderately complex filing and records systems.
  • Experience with administrative financial tasks preferred.
  • Good reading, spelling, grammar and general writing and math skills.
  • Effective planning, organization and time management skills. Must be able to adhere to deadlines.
  • Ability to effectively communicate and coordinate with a wide variety of University personnel, students, and/or outside individuals/organizations.
  • Previous UNE experience desirable.
  • This position will require occasional on-site involvement at the University’s Portland Campus, at local schools, and at training sites throughout the state.
  • Valid driver’s license, good driving record, and ability to travel within the state.
