Liberal Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) is seeking a highly-skilled and motivated professional to assist with the operations of a unique service department dedicated to creating, maintaining, innovating, and promoting educational technology and online learning within the College of Liberal Arts at The University of Texas. 


This fixed-term position is expected to be funded until 08/31/2025. 


This position provides life/work balance with a 40-hour, typical work week. Some teleworking is available for this position, but an on-campus presence is required. Must be authorized to work in the United States on a full-time basis for any employer without sponsorship.

Purpose

This position is an integral part of a course development and studio production team that supports and maintains online and hybrid courses across the University in a variety of colleges and departments.  As a part of the Liberals Arts Instructional Technology Services (LAITS) Online Course Team, this role collaborates across a campus-wide set of teams, both within LAITS and outside. We work in close partnership with graphic designers, video and audio production specialists, and software developers to execute the instructional vision of our faculty. This role assists in supporting a portfolio of dozens of courses employing a variety of production, student interaction, and assessment models.  



Responsibilities

  • Assist in deployment of various online educational projects, including: software development, audio/video production, and other content acquisition and production. Assist with developing and managing online courses. 

  • Assist project teams in developing, managing, and deploying complex projects. Assist in assigning individual responsibilities, developing project schedules, and acquiring needed media and resources. 

  • Participate in simultaneous projects by working with faculty and staff members to meet project goals, balance project requirements, and meet deadlines. 

  • Perform routine and non-routine tasks for studio and classroom-based audio/video production, and reporting project and team status to various stakeholders. 

  • Participate in requirement and design reviews and software testing, comply with change control procedures, and abide by established internal review processes and technical standards. 

  • Assist in development of training, documents, and materials. Work with administrative staff to diligently abide by university practices. 

  • Assist in cultivating robust and sustainable working relationships between technology, media, content, and academic teams to help foster an environment of cross-functional collaboration and teamwork. 

  • Assist in management of outsourced work where applicable. 



Required Qualifications

  • High school graduation or GED. Three years of experience with clerical functions. One year of experience at the senior office assistant level.  

  • Ability to work with precision and attention to detail on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations.   

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills used with cross-functional teams to deliver information in a concise, understandable manner.   

  • Ability to multitask and manage competing priorities in an environment with frequent interruptions. 

  • Ability to follow directions, learn new processes, and work proactively with minimal supervision.  

  • Experience working with computers, audio/video media, and electronic presentation tools. Competency with Microsoft Word, Microsoft Excel, and Microsoft Outlook software applications. 

  • Professional demeanor. 

  • Punctuality 


Relevant education and experience may be substituted as appropriate.  



Preferred Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree. 

  • Professional experience at The University of Texas at Austin as an undergraduate student employee during the 2023-2024 academic year. 

  • Experience using the UT Canvas cloud-hosted learning management system. 

  • Experience working with cross-functional teams. 

  • Experience with usability testing. 

  • Experience relevant to digital media production.
     


Salary Range

$44,000


Working Conditions

  • May work around standard office conditions.    

  • Repetitive use of a keyboard at a workstation.   

  • Will work on multiple projects concurrently, under pressure of rigid deadlines and time limitations.    

  • Overtime, evening, weekend, and holiday work may be required to meet project deadlines.    

  • Work location is on the main UT campus.
