Description of Work
This position’s responsibilities include conducting qualitative and quantitative surveys with adults at our off-campus office. They assist with participation in scheduling, data collection, following data protocols, assisting with processing, as well as the collection of biospecimens and the associated counseling with participants, plus providing general assistance with other research-related tasks. The Project and Field Staff Associate will work at offices located at UNL and also meet participants at office’s located in targeted communities to administer surveys. Staff may also be asked to collect biological samples (urine and finger-stick) for drug, urinalysis, HIV and HCV testing. Staff will be trained in the administration process and will meet with participants for intake and interview sessions, lasting 1-2 hours. Staff will bring all project materials back to UNL for secured entry and processing.
The ideal candidate will have a successful track record of being reliable, organized, dependable, and able to work as a team member. They must be able to communicate effectively with participants and UNL staff and supervisors. The candidate will have and maintain a valid driver’s license, vehicle insurance, and reliable transportation. Must be familiar with principles of survey research (recruitment, asking questions, editing surveys). The ideal candidate must have experience and be comfortable handling cash and cash receipts and using a computer for data entry. The candidate must attend project training and weekly team meetings. The position will require 40 hours per week, including weekends, and frequently between the hours of 9 a.m. to 8 p.m.

Minimum Required Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree plus one year of experience in the fields of psychology, human development, behavioral health, or a related field is required. Proficiency in working with people of diverse backgrounds and experiences. Understanding of various approaches to drug use. Ability to establish reliability on survey measures. Detail-oriented, highly organized, able to work independently with minimal supervision
Must have a valid driver’s license and meet University driver eligibility requirements. Must have reliable access to a vehicle.
Preferred Qualifications
Bachelor’s degree in social science or related field. One year of prior experience in the fields of harm reduction, infectious disease, public health, or social work, or lived experience related to this area of research. One year of prior experience in survey and human subjects research and data collection.Experience working with people from diverse backgrounds. Knowledge of survey research and interviewing protocols. Spanish language fluency.
