Join our dynamic team of faculty, staff, and students who are re-imagining the future of design and creative technologies. The Project and Events Coordinator will organize and execute various public events that showcase groundbreaking faculty and student work.

This role will support the organization of all the School of Design and Creativity Technologies (SDCT) events, including speaker series, career, showcase and events such as Tower tumble. Duties will be split between general project management (planning, scheduling, stakeholder management, logistics, etc.), and some technical support of events (projection, video, lighting, and audio technology). The Ideal candidate will have a sensibility around experience design details that make events “ours.”

This position is on-campus only due to the site-specific responsibilities and not eligible for a remote or hybrid work arrangement.


Purpose

To manage events occurring throughout the year that support strategic goals of the School of Design and Creative Technologies. This includes management of equipment, short-term personnel, budget and communication associated with these events.


Responsibilities

  • Project Management: Lead project management for all events, including monthly speaker series, half yearly showcases and semester career events.

  • Equipment Management: Manage equipment use and scheduling for video, audio, lighting, projection projects. Including rentals as needed for specific events.

  • Internal Communication: Coordinate collaboration between the Department of Arts and Entertainment Technologies and Department of Design; and any other department SDCT is working withBecome a trusted liaison for events between the departments.

  • Scheduling and Budget: Create master schedules and budgets for each individual event as well as yearly projection for the events.

  • Short-Term Staff Management: Supervise student and professional labor. Including sourcing temporary labor as needed for each event.

  • Branding Support: Work closely with communication manager to maintain brand guidelines for UT and SDCT for each event.


Required Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s Degree

  • 2+ years in event and project management experience

  • Required Core Competencies:

    o   Basic Business Acumen


Preferred Qualifications

  • Working knowledge of University of Texas systems

  • Working familiarity with event management software.

  • Demonstrated creativity in crafting internal and external events.

  • Demonstrated understanding of attendees’ needs.

  • Demonstrated ability to delegate tasks and organize a team.

  • Demonstrated ability to communicate and negotiate with external vendors and service providers.


Salary

$55,000+ depending on qualifications


Working Conditions

  • This is an on-campus only position and is not eligible for remote work.

  • Use of manual dexterity.

  • Repetitive use of a computer and keyboard.

  • Lifting/carrying items up to 50 pounds.


Work Shift

  • Standard M-F, Daytime business hours, typically 8am-5pm

  • Events in the evening will require late hours
