Programmer - Thiessen Lab, Psychology Department

We are seeking an entry level Programmer to join the Thiessen Lab within the Psychology Department at Carnegie Mellon. This position consists of constructing machine-learning models that classify transcripts of conversations with children. This task includes preparation of data sets, construction of new training data, running of models, quantitatively comparing results of different models, and writing summaries that describe the results.

Your core responsibilities will include:

  • Construct machine learning models and report on their activities to supervisors
  • Perform programming activities in accordance with machine learning principles and standards
  • Generate pipeline for stimulus creation and data analysis 
  • Analyze model output and modify model accordingly
  • Create analysis summaries for distribution

Qualifications:

  • Bachelor’s degree required
  • Up to 1 year of related experience

Additional Information:

  • This is a part-time, fixed term position, working approximately 20 hours per week, through August 2024.
