General Information
James Madison University (JMU) is accepting applications for a highly motivated and dedicated individual to serve as part of IT-Information Systems Team supporting the university’s enterprise systems. The successful candidate will be provided training and work on a wide-variety of projects for our Human Resources, Financials, and Student Administration systems. This position has the option of in-person, fully remote, or a hybrid of both.
Opportunities will exist for growth and training as JMU embarks on a very large initiative called Reengineering Madison. The project includes: Boomi, move of applications to the Cloud, Salesforce, Okta, replacement of the Human Resources, Financials, and Student Information Systems.

Duties and Responsibilities
This position will be responsible for full software development lifecycle efforts (analysis, design, development/integration, implementation and support) for complex Software Systems supported and managed by JMU Information Systems. These systems include: Student Information, Human Resources & Payroll, and Financials. This position is telework eligible.
Qualifications
Required
  • Significant professional experience programming in large and complex Software Systems, such as: Student Information Systems (SIS), Human Resources, Payroll, Financials
  • Significant professional experience programming using large and complete relational databases
  • Significant professional experience using query languages, such as SQL
  • Significant professional experience with software development in medium to large Software Systems
  • Significant professional experience creating business process documents
  • Significant professional experience gathering and documenting requirements
  • Significant professional experience creating design specifications
  • Significant professional experience creating a test plan

Additional Considerations
  • Experience in a Higher Education environment
  • Experience working other programming languages
  • PeopleSoft experience. Training in PeopleSoft proprietary development tools will be provided, if needed.
  • Ability to work independently and as part of a team
  • Exceptional communication skills, both verbal and writing
  • Strong problem solving and decision-making skills to identify, anticipate, and resolve problems
  • Ability to communicate with individuals at all levels and both independently and as part of a team
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail

The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report contains information regarding campus security and personal safety including topics such as: crime prevention, the university police law enforcement authority, crime reporting policies, disciplinary procedures, protocols for the immediate notification of students and staff upon confirmation of a significant emergency on campus and other matters of importance related to security and safety. The report includes statistics for the most recent three-year period of reported crimes that have occurred on campus; in certain off-campus buildings or property owned or controlled by JMU or its affiliates; and on public property within or immediately adjacent to and accessible from the campus.
The Annual Security and Fire Safety Report includes campus housing fire statistics for the most recent three-year period, a description of each on-campus student housing facility fire safety system, the number of fire drills held during the previous calendar year, policies or rules on portable electrical appliances, smoking, and open flames in student housing; and procedures for student housing evacuation in the event of fire along with other fire safety information.
