Job Description

Purpose:

This position is a member of the College of Engineering's marketing and communications staff and is assigned to the Office of Special Events and Alumni and Donor Relations. The position is responsible for the preparation of alumni-and-donor-related communications; developing and implementing donor stewardship strategies and recognition; and supporting the coordination of alumni-and-donor-related events for the college. This position plays a crucial role in fostering positive relationships with alumni and donors, ultimately contributing to the overall success of fundraising efforts and the enhancement of the organization's reputation.

Responsibilities:

  • Stewardship:
    • Execute donor relations and stewardship strategies for the College of Engineering in collaboration with the Engineering Development Office
    • Distribute personalized recognition pieces, thank-you letters, acknowledgments, and correspondence from student recipient(s), and annual reports
    • Execute high-profile donor recognition events in collaboration with the special events team
    • Oversee management of the donor database
    • Report out analytics to leadership
  • Communications:
    • Analyze communication success and open rates, build and maintain communications strategy
    • Write and disseminate gift announcements, social media posts and promotional materials in collaboration with Engineering Communications
    • Promote alumni and donor engagement initiatives
    • Maintain content for development and related web pages
  • Donor Correspondence:
    • Cultivate relationships and promote interest in supporting the College of Engineering
    • Interpret issues and recommend solutions
    • Foster ongoing communications (correspondence, newsletters, proposals, informational and promotional materials, gift announcements, etc.)  
    • Provide excellent customer service by displaying a positive and respectful demeanor and responding to inquiries and requests in a timely and professional manner
  • Alumni Engagement:
    • Plan and execute alumni events, reunions, and networking opportunities
    • Analyze engagement numbers and report out to leadership
    • Coordinate and communicate with alumni through various channels, including email, social media, and newsletters
    • Serve as an ambassador for the College of Engineering
  • Advisory Council:
    • Execute logistical plans and coordination of vendors for the college-level semi-annual advisory council meetings
    • Identify areas of improvement and plan for updates
  • Special Programs and Services:
    • Oversee planned programs and services, such as the Engineering Walk Brick Campaign, Aggie Women Engineers Network, and annual fundraising initiatives such as Giving Tuesday
  • Provides Direction and Consultation for Direct Reports:
    • Guide, support and inspire team members to work well together
    • Promote teamwork and cooperation among coworkers
    • Help the team understand their roles and strengths, encourage enhanced professional skills and utilize talents
    • Analyze workload to make sure service is efficient and effective
  • Manage Budgets
    • Create and maintain annual budget for alumni and donor-relations activities
  • Other duties as assigned

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Three years of related work experience.

What is helpful:

  • Experience with training full-time staff members
  • Experience in defining roles and assigning duties
  • Experience in alumni relations, donor stewardship, or fundraising

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Good organization and writing skills; attention to detail/good proofreading skills
  • Strong interpersonal skills with the ability to build and maintain relationships
  • Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite
  • Enthusiasm for the organization's mission and goals

  • Ability to multi-task and work independently with a set of guidelines.
  • Willingness to work occasional evenings and weekends for events
  • Familiarity with social media platforms and online engagement strategies

  • Knowledge of best practices in alumni and donor relations in the nonprofit sector
