Job Description

The Program Specialist II, under general supervision, will provide administrative support to assigned research programs in the department.

Responsibilities:

  • Assists with research proposals, budgets, and monitors post-award spending on grants and contracts. Makes sure key personnel commitments on all projects have been met and all spending is within the guidelines of the project. Works as a liaison with program managers and sponsored project officers regarding funding.

  • Assist with the planning and organization of events, meetings, workshops or other special functions related to the sponsored projects.

  • Coordinates travel arrangements and prepares itineraries for PI’s.

  • Performs advanced word processing, desktop publishing, presentation and data management activities.

  • Applies, interprets and communicates TAMU and TEES policies and procedures.

  • Prepares reports, presentations and other documentation as needed.

  • Coordinates meetings, prepares agendas and records and distributes minutes.

  • Supports PIs with educational, workforce development, and outreach activities pertaining to the sponsored projects   

Required Education:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

Required Experience:

  • Two years of related experience.

Preferred Experience:

  • Research program administration.

Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

  • Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.

  • Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.

  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

  • Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.

  • Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
