Job Description
The Program Specialist II, under general supervision, will provide administrative support to assigned research programs in the department.
Responsibilities:
Assists with research proposals, budgets, and monitors post-award spending on grants and contracts. Makes sure key personnel commitments on all projects have been met and all spending is within the guidelines of the project. Works as a liaison with program managers and sponsored project officers regarding funding.
Assist with the planning and organization of events, meetings, workshops or other special functions related to the sponsored projects.
Coordinates travel arrangements and prepares itineraries for PI’s.
Performs advanced word processing, desktop publishing, presentation and data management activities.
Applies, interprets and communicates TAMU and TEES policies and procedures.
Prepares reports, presentations and other documentation as needed.
Coordinates meetings, prepares agendas and records and distributes minutes.
Supports PIs with educational, workforce development, and outreach activities pertaining to the sponsored projects
Required Education:
Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
Required Experience:
Two years of related experience.
Preferred Experience:
Research program administration.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:
Knowledge of word processing and spreadsheet applications.
Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
Strong interpersonal, organizational, and customer service skills.
Maintains attention to detail and utilizes sound judgment.
