Job Description

Purpose:

The Meloy Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program Specialist II, under general supervision from the Director, performs the planning, development, and implementation of the various program offerings of the Meloy Engineering Innovation and Entrepreneurship Program (MEIEP).


Responsibilities:

  • Supervises two entry-level staff members, including coordination of position specification posting, candidate screening, and hiring.
  • Supervises up to six student workers, undergraduate and graduate, to support MEIEP activities.
  • Coordinates programs including: Aggies Invent, Invent for the Planet, Problems Worth Solving, Engineering Inc., NSF i-Corps Site, Meloy Fellows, Meloy Innovators, Meloy Speaker Series, Boss Talk, and student pitch competitions, both on and off campus.
  • Manages logistics for conferences, seminars, meetings, and workshops for MEIEP faculty, staff, mentors, judges, and guest speakers.
  • Handles food, promotional materials, stakeholder communications, and real-time execution for all events, trainings, meetings, and conferences.
  • Serves as primary Point of Contact for MEIEP in working with Zachry Facilities, IT, Scheduling, MarComm, and the EASA Business Office.
  • Administers the Concept, Creation, and Commercialization Certificate and the Engineering Entrepreneurship Minor offered by MEIEP.
  • Provides logistical support for all curricular activities within MEIEP.
  • Prepares, tracks, and provides management reports related to the Program and event budgets, working closely with the EASA Business Office personnel.
  • Coordinates all vendor ordering and communications related to MEIEP promotional materials.
  • Maintains Program records and databases.
  • Supports travel reservations and purchases for Program faculty, staff, and guests.
  • Handles other duties as assigned.

What we need:

  • Bachelor’s degree in applicable field or equivalent combination of education and experience.
  • Two years of related experience.

What is helpful:

  • Experience with similar entity’s administration and coordination of activities.
  • Experience supervising multiple personnel, preparing and monitoring budgets, event planning and coordination, serving as liaison between internal stakeholder groups, and communicating with guests, visitors, and students.

Knowledge, Skills, and Abilities:

  • Be proficient in typical office software programs related to work processing, spreadsheets, databases, and presentations.
  • Demonstrate a collaborative work style.
  • Possess excellent written and verbal communication skills and; be a good leader for those junior-level employees reporting to them.

Other Requirements:

  • Will be expected to work one weekend per month.
  • Must handle the stress of multi-tasking in a sometimes busy, chaotic environment.
  • Will supervise small group of junior staff and student workers.
  • Must work well with Program faculty members.
  • Must manage the multi-modal (in-person and virtual) workplace.
